About Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore


The Central Food Technological Research Institute is a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi. It was established in 1950 in Mysore with an aim to pursue research in the field of Food Science and Technology. It has its resource centers at Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Lucknow.

The institute has an R&D department that mainly focuses on food engineering, molecular nutrition, and food safety. It offers postgraduate courses in Science, doctorate program, and an integrated M.Sc- Ph.D. It also offers a 10-month Flour Milling course at its International School of Milling Technology. The CFTRI admission is mainly based on the past academic records and the CFTRI  entrance examination. Candidates interested to work in the field of Science can apply as the college provides opportunities and support for research and development. M.Sc

  • The candidate should have completed a Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering or Agriculture or Technology from a recognized university with 55% in case of general & OBC students and 50% in case of SC, ST, and PWD students.

  • The score in the entrance exam conducted by CFTRI will also be considered.

Ph.D [Science]

  • The candidates having a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Medicine or Technology with an interest in scientific knowledge, or candidates with a Master's degree in Science can apply.

  • A valid National Level Fellowship is a must for the interested candidates.

Ph.D [Engineering]

  • The candidate should have a Master's degree in Engineering or Technology or Pharmacy or the candidate should have a Master's degree in Science.
  • A valid National Level Fellowship is compulsory.
  • The candidate should also have a valid GATE score.
