Details on IGNOU BA Admission 2021

IGNOU BA Admission 2021 process takes place twice a year - once for the January session and another for the July cycle. The University admits students to its Bachelor's degree program from both formal and non-formal schemes. The non-formal stream consists of those students who have not cleared their 10+2 or equivalent exam. To take admission to IGNOU’s degree program they have to pass its Bachelor’s preparatory programme (BPP) first.

IGNOU BA Courses

IGNOU BA program has three categories of courses foundation, elective, and application-oriented. Every student needs to successfully complete 48 credits in any one discipline in BA to earn a Degree. 

BA General Course

IGNOU offers numerous courses. BA is one such course offered by the institute. There are various disciplines in the BA course. IGNOU BA is a mix of disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and skill-based courses. IGNOU BA  is a minimum of three years and a maximum of six years of course. It is a 132 credit course in a minimum of six semesters. Tabled below are the IGNOU BA courses and specializations.

BA (Hons)

The School of Social Science (SOSS) offers the BA Hons in various disciplines. The program also offers flexibility in the completion of the course. It has also introduced the choice based credit system, which provides the students with the flexibility to choose the subjects and also mobility among various institutions. It was introduced in the January 2021 session for the BA Honours. 

IGNOU BA (Hons.) course is for 148 credits spread over six semesters,  which the students should complete successfully. It consists of core courses, discipline-specific elective, ability enhancement compulsory course, skill enhancement course, and generic electives. BA (Tourism Studies)

It is a part of IGNOUs, School of Tourism and Hospitality Service Management. The program is of 96 credits. The main objective of the program is to provide knowledge to students who are interested in having a career in the tourism industry at different levels. The program is offered in both Hindi and English medium for the learners. 

BA (Vocational Studies) Tourism Management

The BA vocational studies program has been developed by the school of hospitality service and tourism. This program aims at creating a skill-based force for the Travel and Tourism industry. This particular program is for 132 credits for over six semesters, with each semester consisting of 22 credits.

IGNOU BA Admission 2021 Eligibility Criteria

There are various eligibility criteria set for the IGNOU BA admission 2021 by the management. Every candidate must satisfy either one of the mentioned conditions. The following table contains all the courses and eligibility needed to follows.

Bachelor of Arts (General)

  • The candidate must have completed 10+2 or its equivalent or the candidate must pass the Bachelor's preparatory program (BPP) from IGNOU.

Bachelor of Arts (Hons)

  • The candidate must have completed 10+2 or its equivalent or the candidate must pass the Bachelor's preparatory program (BPP) from IGNOU.

Bachelor of Arts (Tourism Management)

  • The candidate must have completed 10+2 to be eligible for the program.

Bachelor of Arts (Tourism Studies) 

  • The applicant must have completed 10+2 or its equivalent or the candidate must pass the Bachelor's preparatory program (BPP) from IGNOU. 

IGNOU BA Admission Process 2021

IGNOU follows the online admission process. Where the candidate chooses the course they intend to do and all the course-related details are provided. The applicants must ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria in order to qualify for admission and they also have the required documents with them in order to fill the online admission application successfully. Interested candidates can follow the given steps to complete the application process. 

  1. Visit the IGNOU website.
  2. Fill the form for new registration if you are not a registered candidate.
  3. Select your course, and note down its course ID.
  4. Next, click on “Application”
  5. Fill the form for the candidate’s application.
  6. Pay the course fees for one year.
  7. Upload the required documents.
  8. Click on the submit button.
  9. Your application is provisionally accepted. 

The examination forms are accepted online as per a schedule given by the institute. The Term-end Examination (TEE) is conducted by IGNOU twice a year in June and December. For IGNOU BA admission 2021 an examination fee of INR 150 must be paid. An extra of INR 1000 must be paid as a late fee if the candidate misses the due date.

IGNOU BA Admission Documents Required 2021

All candidates interested in the BA course offered by IGNOU must ensure and double-check the following points in order to avoid any mistakes or confusion during the application procedure. Every applicant taking IGNOU BA admission 2021 must submit a scanned copy of certain documents. The documents that are required are as follows.

  • A scanned photograph and signature which is not less than 100 KB must be submitted by the candidate.
  • Candidates must also submit a scanned copy of age proof not less than 200 KB.
  • Every applicant must sign a scanned copy of the relevant educational qualification and experience certificate, if necessary of size less than 200 KB.
  • If needed, candidates must also scan a copy of category certificate, if SC/ST/OBC or BPL certificate of less than 200 KB.
