Eligibility Criteria for Master of Science [M.Sc] in Agriculture, Master of Science [M.Sc] in Forestry and Master of Science [M.Sc] in Horticulture:

M.Sc (Agriculture), this course will be for 2 years, in any of the following fields of study:

  1. Agricultural Economics (Max. 6 seats)
  2. Agricultural Entomology (Max. 7 seats)
  3. Agricultural Extension (Max. 6 seats)
  4. Agricultural Statistics (Max. 5 seats)
  5. Agronomy (Max. 8 seats)
  6. Biochemistry (Max. 6 seats)
  7. Genetics & Plant Breeding (Max. 7 seats)
  8. Plant Pathology (Max. 7 seats)
  9. Soil Science & Agriculture Chemistry (Max. 8 seats)

M.Sc in Horticulture course will be for 2 years, in any of the following sub-fields of study:

  1. Floriculture, Medicinal & Aromatic Plants (4 seats).
  2. Plantation Crops & Processing (4 seats).
  3. Pomology and Post Harvest Technology (5 seats).
  4. Vegetables & Spice Crops (4 seats).

Eligibility For All the applicants seeking admission:

  • The applicants seeking admission must possess a bachelor's degree in agriculture, horticulture or forestry from this university or any other recognized university or Board of studies with minimum OGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale (for general category candidates) and OGPA of 6 (for SC/ST and PWD candidates).
  • The applicants seeking admission must secure at least 60% aggregate marks (for general category candidates) and 50% marks (for SC/ST and PWD candidates) in the Higher Secondary examination or equivalent examination.
  • The minimum age of the applicants seeking admission must be 21 years.

Application Process  for Master of Science [M.Sc] in Agriculture, Master of Science [M.Sc] in Forestry and Master of Science [M.Sc] in Horticulture:

  • The applicants seeking admission can register themselves for obtaining admissions to Ph.D. programs offered by the university, by filling and submitting the online application form only through the official university website. Forms will not be issued from the university counter and they will have to be downloaded from the internet.
  • Along with completed application, candidates must submit the fee amount of Rs. 300/- (for general & OBC candidates) and Rs. 75/- (for SC/ST/PWD category candidates). The fee can be paid through online modes such as Debit/ Credit Card and net banking facility or offline mode of payment i.e. bank challan.

Note: SC/ST and OBC applicants seeking admission from outside West Bengal will be treated under General category.

At the time of counseling, the applicants seeking admission must submit original copies of the following documents:

  • Attested copies of mark sheets of Madhyamik, Higher Secondary and Under Graduation Examinations of the applicant applying for admissions.
  • Admit card / Certificate of Madhyamik Examination of the applicant seeking admission.
  • SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PWD certificate of such applicant seeking admission.
  • Character certificate issued from the Head of the institution from where he/she has passed their previous examination.
  • Residential certificate from a competent authority of the applicant seeking admission.
  • One copy of pass port size photo and Bank Challan (on payment of required fees).

Admission Process for Master of Science [M.Sc] in Agriculture and Master of Science [M.Sc] in Forestry:

The university will select the applicants seeking admission to the M.Sc programme on the basis of such applicants' performance in the entrance test conducted by the university or the board of studies.
