Application Process for University of Calicut, Calicut

The University of Calicut, Calicut has a Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Admission, which has provision for Online submission of a single application for various UG & PG courses in multiple colleges affiliated to the University.

There are two phases to complete the application process in the Directorate of Admissions page from the University's official website:

Online Payment:

  1. Click on the Online Payment link.

  2. Pay the required fee through the Instant Web Payment System found on the University of Calicut, Calicut website - Fill in the required fields and pay the fee amount through Net Banking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card

  3. Take a print out of the challan receipt.

  4. A security code will be sent to the registered mobile number.

Online Registration:

  1. Click on the Online Registration link.

  2. Select the relevant course.

  3. Enter the Challan number and the security code.

  4. Upload photograph.

  5. Fill in the application form with all the required details.

  6. Submit and take a printout of the application form.

  7. Fill in the applicant's signature and get the attestation of the form done by a Gazetted Officer.

  8. Post the application form with all documents to the following address - The Deputy Registrar(Private Registration), School of Distance Education, University of Calicut, Calicut University.P.O, Malappuram 673635.

Admission Process for Calicut University, Calicut


  • The admission process for University of Calicut, Calicut will have four allotments for all categories of students and two special allotments for SC/ST/BPL. The number of allotments is subject to change every year depending on the University guidelines.

  • A trial allotment will be announced to let the applicants know the chances of getting an allotment to a course and college based on the options, merit and reservation rules.

  • On receiving allotment to a particular option, all other lower options will automatically be canceled and only the higher options will remain until deletion or modification by the candidate.

  • The candidates who get the allotment will be notified through SMS/Email.

  • The candidates who are allotted seats can take admission in the respective course and colleges.

General requirements for Undergraduate Programmes:

  • The candidates who apply should have passed in the Higher Secondary Examination of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent by a recognized Board for University of Calicut, Calicut admissions 2019.

  • The candidates who have passed the HSE and VHSE of the Government of Kerala under 'SAY' scheme and Compartmental Examination of CBSE can also apply.

  • The Afzal-ul-ulama preliminary course is equivalent to the Plus Two Humanities Group. Therefore, all candidates who have passed Afzal-ul-ulama preliminary can apply to the Humanities and Commerce programmes.

  • The candidates who have passed the HSE of Tamil Nadu under Private Study are not eligible to apply to any programme under this University.

Eligibility Criteria for BBA

  • The candidates who apply have should have secured minimum 50% marks in the Higher Secondary Examination of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent by a recognized Board for admission to University of Calicut, Calicut.
  • The candidates belonging to OBC/OEC are eligible for relaxation up to 5%.

  • The candidates belonging to SC/ST need to have a pass percentage only.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Com

  • The candidates who apply have to have passed the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent by a concerned Board, with at least one Commerce subject for admission to University of Calicut, Calicut.

  • The candidates who have not taken a commerce subject at Higher Secondary level or an equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% marks are also eligible to apply.

  • The candidates belonging to OBC/OEC are eligible for relaxation up to 5%.

  • The candidates belonging to SC/ST need to have a pass percentage only.

Eligibility Criteria for MA

For M.A. (English)/ M.A. (Arabic)/ M.A. (Malayalam)/ M.A. (Sanskrit)/ M.A. (Tamil)/ M.A. (Hindi)/ M.A. (Russian & Comparative Literature)/ M.A. (Economics)/ M.A. (History)/ M.A. (Islamic History)/ M.A. (Philosophy)/ M.A. (Sociology)/ M.A. (Islamic Studies)/ M.A. (Islamic Finance):

The candidate who applies must have secured a minimum of 45% marks in any Degree from the University of Calicut with the concerned subject or an equivalent degree from a recognized university.

For M.A. (Music):

The candidate who applies must have secured a minimum of 45% marks in B.A. (Music) Degree of University of Calicut with the concerned subject or an equivalent degree from a recognized university.

M.A. (Political Science)/ M.A. (Women Studies):

The candidate who applies must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in B.A. Degree from the University of Calicut with the concerned subject or an equivalent degree from a recognized university.

M.A. (Financial Economics):

The candidate who applies must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in B.A. Degree from the University of Calicut with the concerned subject or an equivalent degree from a recognized university.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Com

The candidate who applies must have secured a minimum of 45% marks in B.Com./B.B.A./B.B.S./B.B.M. degree from the University of Calicut or equivalent degree from a recognized University.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Lib.I.Sc

The candidate who applies must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in any Degree of University of Calicut with the concerned subject or an equivalent degree from a recognized university.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Sc

The candidate who applies must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in B.Sc. degree from the University of Calicut with the concerned subject or an equivalent degree from a recognized university.

For M.Sc. Geography:

The candidate who applies must have secured a minimum of 45% marks in B.Sc. from the University of Calicut with the concerned subject or an equivalent degree from a recognized university.

Eligibility Criteria for MTM

  • Any candidate who has finished a degree with pass percentage in Tourism or Hotel Management or in both from the University of Calicut or the same degree of any other university or institute, in any other state recognized by UGC or AICTE with a minimum of 45% marks is eligible to apply.

  • The candidates who have finished a Degree from any other stream with at least 45% of marks can also apply.
