Application Process for M.Phil

  • Applying candidates can obtain the application form either from the university office or on the university website University of Calcutta for the year 2019.

  • Candidates who get the application form on the website must download it and take a printout.

  • The application form must be filled in with the required personnel, contact and educational details with a passport size photograph and signatures wherever necessary.

  • Candidates must pay the application fee of Rs. 100 (in cash only) through a challan available from the university cash counter at the College Street Campus, CU.

  • Candidates must pay the application fee of Rs. 500 for General Category and Rs. 250 for SC/ST/PWD category, through either of the given methods:

    • Internet Banking/debit/credit card from any bank.

    • Using SBI Collect i.e. complete an online transaction of cash to State Bank of India, C.U. Branch. A small additional fee will be charged for this transaction.

  • Applicants should attach a copy of the deposit receipt if paying via SBI collect.

  • Candidates seeking admission must send the application form along with the required enclosures to the following address:

Admission Process for MBA

  • The selection of eligible candidates is based on the cumulative scores in academics, CAT/MAT score, Group Discussion, Personal interview, and Work experience.

  • A total of 20 marks is assigned for GD, 20 marks for Final interview that includes questions regarding General, Subject knowledge, Communication ability, and Personality.
  • Seat intake: Out of the total number of seats allocated for Indian students 22% will be allocated for Scheduled Caste,6% for Scheduled Tribes and other reservation as per University / Government rules and regulations.

Admission Process for M.Phil

  • Eligible applicants will be selected for admission on the basis of a research entrance test conducted by the respective departments of the college as described in the official website for the year 2019

  • Candidates who qualify in the entrance test will have to appear for a personal interview.

  • The examination will be for a maximum of 50 marks and the questions will be multiple choice type.

  • The exam duration is one hour. It will be on the syllabus of the respective master’s programme prescribed by the University of Calcutta.

  • The maximum marks for Interview will be 50 marks that include Research Proposal – 30 marks and Short Essay - 20 marks.

  • Candidates who have qualified in UGC/CSIR (JRF) Examinations/ NET/GATE etc., equivalent examinations will be exempted from giving the entrance examination and will be called directly for the interview.

  • Reservation criteria will be as per the rules of the Government of West Bengal.

Admission Process for Other Courses.

Ph.D.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process

The eligibility criteria for taking admission in the University Of Calcutta is a candidate must have at least 55% of marks in graduation, and if the candidate is already a student under the University of Calcutta, they can directly take admission for post-graduation courses. If not you have to take an entrance examination which will be held on the university campus in the month of June every year.

As I was already a student at the University of Calcutta and my percentage was matching their criteria and I got selected for direct admission

The entrance examination will be based on graduation major subject and compulsory subjects

The minimum cutoff mark is 55%.

For getting admission in Calcutta University, you need to have First Class (60%) and above for direct admission. Although it depends on the cut off and the availability of the seats. Rest of the applicants have to undergo an entrance test, which on clarifying, they get selected for admission.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process

As long as you have passed 10+2 with an average of 60% you are good to go for this University. There is a special entrance exam for all law colleges in Kolkata. To get into this University your rank has to be roughly within 120 in the entrance exam in CET.

I studied bcom accountancy honors and the cutting off percentage was 70 for first list student. There was so entrance examination when I applied for the course. And you have to be an accounts student to get admission to B.Com.
