The University provides research courses with various specializations in the field of M.Phil and Ph.D. The maximum period for completion of the M.Phil program is two years in the case of Full-time candidates, and three years in the case of Part-time candidates. The selection of the candidates is based on the marks scored in the Entrance Test followed by viva-voce/ interview.

The students who have scored qualified marks in UGC/ CSIR (JRF) Examination/ SLET/ GATE/ teacher fellowship holder are exempted from the entrance test of M.Phil full-time course admission and have to sit for an interview which is of 60 marks for admission to the course and its various specializations.

M.Phil Eligibility Criteria

For being eligible for admission to the course the candidates must have passed their Master's degree examination with at least 55% marks in aggregate with 40% marks in the entrance exam and 10% marks in the viva-voce exam.

M.Phil Selection Process

The selection of the candidates is based on the merit scored in the Master's degree and in the entrance and viva-voce exam.

The University also provides an M.Phil research course in part-time mode. Any applicant,  employed in any concern/ organization/ institution situated within the jurisdiction of the State of Tamil Nadu or outside recognized by Thiruvalluvar University with a minimum of 55% of marks in the Master’s degree is eligible. Any teacher as a candidate working in universities/ affiliated/ colleges / Polytechnics/ Higher Secondary Schools and High Schools approved by State Board or Central Board of Secondary Education Or Education instructors of I.A.F are eligible for admission in the part-time mode.

M.Phil (part-time) Eligibility Criteria
