Entrance exam of my College/University was not based on marks you get but you should achieve the eligibility criteria. Mathematics is not compulsory to get into this University which is an advantage for students who didn't have maths in their +2. For my course BMS I had to take my entrance test based on class 10 Mathematics and Logical Reasoning and also English.
St Xavier's college is a prestigious institution of Calcutta. Generally, the eligibility criteria for the course I took is that the student must have studied maths and English. The college does not have any entrance exam for this course. The general cut off for my department varies from 96% to 94% including maths and English.
About the BMS course candidate have to give an entrance exam which comprises of 50 marks and to get your exam marks, as well as entrance exam marks, both will be considered while admission. The cutoff in the entrance is 44 marks if one can manage to get that marks then can expect to get admitted into this college.
There is no cutoff system to get admission in St. Xavier's college. It takes admission on the basis of 12th standard percentage. There is no entrance exam taken by this college. The Christian community can get admission easily because this college gives priority to them.
