The procedure for getting into SASTRA University is as follows.

So there is no specific entrance examination for getting into SASTRA University. Candidates are selected based on their board marks and JEE scores. There are 2 categories. In the first category they take 70% of your board marks and 30% of your JEE scores and evaluate. And in category 2 its just the board marks they consider. So once you fill the form with your marks, they will evaluate your score based on the category you have applied for and you will be called for counselling.

There is no entrance test for this university, it all depends on the basis of AIEEE score and intermediate marks and reservations are according to locality. I took different entrance tests for different universities but this is best among them. The cutoff for the mechanical branch is 75% AIEEE score and 25% from the intermediate score. Generally, every department has the same cutoff for this deemed university

Getting a seat in Sastra University,Thanjore is bit difficult unless we have a good marks in 12th and JEE exam. Both the percentages are highly considered. If JEEE score is bit high then there is a possibility to get a seat but reverse is not possible, so this highlights mark in JEE is must plus a good score of above 1100 in 12th examination. I joined B.tech EEE. During my time of admission on 2013, they considered only 12th mark and not JEE but in 2014 they made a compulsory thing for JEE exams.

In order to get admitted into any stream here, one has to submit his/her twelfth and JEE main marks based on which a rank list will be formulated. If your rank is in the top 900 or 1000,  you might be called on the first day of counselling.

For candidates applying from other states, JEE marks is compulsory and cutoff is determined as 30% of 12th marks + 70% of JEE mains marks.

and for candidates from within the district, JEE marks is not compulsory thus cutoff will be decided purely based on 12th marks.

1) The eligibility criteria for my course in my college is the total percentage of my JEE MAIN marks and my boards' marks. It should be more than 90%. Our college is purely based on merit-based education.2) I took JEE mains examination.3) I had a cut off of 190.50% in my higher secondary examinations. So, it is easy for me to get this course. My course requires cut off from above 180%.

The eligibility criteria to enter SASTRA is to have good marks in your higher secondary and a good total in your JEE MAIN.

Coming to admission procedure, SASTRA purely believes in transparency!! According to their slogan,"THINK MERIT, THINK SASTRA!", they follow a good administration in admitting students in their institution. The only way to enter SASTRA without good merit is to enter via NRI quota. No other ways are possible to enter SASTRA. It doesn't even follow reservation system.

No need for any entrance exams to enter SASTRA, but attempting to JEE MAIN will help you a lot in your admission.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process

During the month of April and May applications are distributed via both online and offline. So generally there are two categories while coming to admission, the first one is based on your performance in your respective board examination + JEE MAIN and the second one is totally based on your performance in board examination. The point to be noted is that the percentage of seats allotted for the first category is more so it's better to take up JEE MAIN.

The admission procedures are same as for every courses. First, you have to get the application form from the University or if your place is not nearby, you can pay and download it from the SASTRA University website. Fill the details and submit it. There are two streams. If you wish to go through stream 1, then you should have appeared for JEE MAIN examination. 70% of JEE MAIN score and 30% of the Boards score will be taken into account. In general, JEE MAIN score of above 100 will be ample to get the required course. If you wish to go through stream 2 then your Boards total is enough.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process

The eligibility criteria for a B Tech course is either attempting JEE MAIN or the respective board exam, giving rise to an admission by two streams. I had given JEE MAIN (a common entrance exam for many institutions throughout the country) for my admission. Cutoff could vary depending on the students but the cutoff for admission through the second stream (by the board exam score) is usually very high (like around 98% and above usually).

SASTRA University was started in 1984 as Shanmuga Engineering College and it was then affiliated to the Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli. In 2001, SASTRA broke its affiliation to become the first institution to acquire the ‘Deemed University’ status in Tamil Nadu.
