Established in the year 1962 under Punjab Act No. 35 of 1961, Punjabi University, Patiala is the second University in the world to be named after a language. This prestigious university aims to promote Punjabi language, literature and culture and in its pursuit of excellence in higher education. For its high-quality education, Punjabi University, Patiala, has been accredited by NAAC with  'A' grade. It offers courses in the disciplines of Arts, Engineering, Sciences, Medical, Management and Law among others. Presently, the University has 65 teaching and research departments and enrols nearly 14000 students in various courses. Punjabi University Application Form

The application procedure for admission in Punjabi University is online and can be done through their official website.

  1. Candidates are required to register by filling out the Registration Form online.
  2. This is done by selecting the course category of preference.
  3. And filling out the necessary details such as Name, Father's Name, Date of Birth, Mobile no., Email address, etc.
  4. The application fee can be paid via Debit/Credit Card/ Net Banking (for online payment), Pay-in-slip of State Bank of India or Punjabi University Cashier Receipt (Only at Patiala Campus).
  5. The Course-wise application fee for Punjabi University is given below:
    • The application fee for courses with admission without entrance test is INR 1,000/- for general category and INR 700/- for SC/ ST.
    • Application fee for M.Sc (Hons.) Biotechnology & M.Sc (Hons.) Microbial & Food Technology, M.Sc Hons in Botany, M.Tech, LLM (2 Years) Courses, M.Com & M.Com (Finance) (2 Years), M.Com Hons Five Year Integrated Course, B.Sc (Mathematics & Computing) and B.Sc Hons in Mathematics, M.Sc Mathematics & M.Sc (Applied Mathematics & Computing) is INR 1,700/- for general category and INR 1,400/- for SC/ST.

  6. Candidates will be provided with their User ID and Password after their payment is confirmed.
  7. Next, the Application Form is to be filled out using the User ID generated during the registration process and by providing the necessary information regarding academic record, reservation category, etc.
  8. After the Application Form is saved, candidates can print their application forms.

Punjabi University Admission Fees

Depending on the course opted for by the student, course duration and other factors, Punjabi University fee structure varies.

  • For all B.Tech courses, the 1st Semester Fee is INR 89,453/-, including refundable security of INR 32,550/-.
  • For B.Sc courses, 1st Semester Fee is INR 22,018/- for Computer Science, Statistics and Mathematics and INR 27,818/- for Mathematics, Computing & Mgmt. and Hon’s in Mathematics.

Punjabi University Entrance Exam

Candidates are required to give an Entrance Exam for admission in some Master’s and B.Sc courses. Performance in this exam will be the basis of eligibility for these programmes.

The MA courses offered by Punjabi University include Fine Arts, History, and Psychology and others. Candidates are not required to appear for Entrance Test. However, candidates are required to appear for an interview.

To take addmission in Master of Arts, you must have a degree of Graduation from a recognized university of India. After submitting prospect, cut off is released on your marks in Graduation. This cut off list is released on category basis I.e General, SC, OBC etc. 60% was the cut off in SC category for my course. It varies each and every year. There was no entrance exam for that.

  • Eligibility criteria fo getting admission in this college is purely based on your 12th class merit.
  • Forms are out in April-may and you have to register yourself and after that counseling and date is announced on which you have to report to the mathematics department of the university with all your documents for the verification process and then the merit list is prepared for all the students who got verified by the department.

Step-1:- REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

  1. Open www.pupadmissions.ac.in
  2. Select the Course Category in which you seek admission
  3. Fill the Registration Form Online - kindly fill your particulars as Name, Father's Name, Date of Birth, Category (SC/ST or General and all others), Mobile No., e-mail address, etc.
  4. Make payment using one of the following mode:
    1. Online Debit/Credit Card/ Net Banking
    2. Pay-in-slip of State Bank of Patiala
    3. Punjabi University Cashier Receipt (Only at Patiala Campus)
    (NOTE: In case of b and c take a printout of the Pay-in-slip and deposit the amount in any branch of the concerned bank/ Univesity Cashier. You will be issued User Id and Password (through SMS) only after confirmation of your payment by Centralized Admission Cell. No need to send the Pay-in-Slip to Centralized Admission Cell, but in case Userid and Password are not received within 48 hours, send the scanned copy of Pay-in-slip (in case c)/ University Cash Receipt along with Payment Receipt (in case d) through email at feeslip@pbi.ac.in.
  5. Note down your User id for future use. This completes your registration process subject to payment confirmation. To fill your application form please refer to step 2.

STEP-2:- FILL ONLINE APPLICATION FORM

  1. Open www.pupadmissions.ac.in and open the Application Form by logging on Apply button in the concerned course category using your User id generated at the end of successful registration
                            or
    Proceed from Registration Step.
  2. Fill the Application Form Online and provide information regarding your academic record, reservation category, etc.
  3. After completion of the Application Form click on SAVE button.

STEP-3 EDIT YOUR APPLICATION FORM

  1. The registered candidates can edit information filled by them in the Application Form for limited period using User id and password issued to them.
  2. Once the Application Fee payment status is confirmed you will be issued User Id and Password. The intimation about this will be made through SMS/e-mail alerts.
  3. Candidates making payment using Online Net Banking option or Credit/ Debit Card options will be issued User Id and Password immediately after confirmation of the payment by the gateway.
  4. Candidates making payment using Pay-in-slip for SBOP or Punjabi University Patiala Cashier Fee Receipt will be issued User Id and Passwords only after confirmation of their payment by Centralized Admission Cell. In case no password is received within 48 hours, contact Centralized Admission Cell.

STEP-4 PRINT THE FORM

Registered candidates whose payment has been confirmed and who have successfully completed step 2, can print their application forms for their personal record, using User Id and Password.
APPLICATION PROCESSING FEES

The Application Fee (Without Late Fee ) For Different Types Of Courses Is As Follows:

Courses in which Admission is without Entrance Test Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 700/- for SC/ ST)
M.Tech./ M.Com. Hons. (FYIC) / L.L.M., M.Sc. Honours Biotechnology and M.Sc. Honours Microbial and Food Technology Course (Entrance Test) Rs. 1700/- (Rs. 1400/- for SC/ST)
M.B.A. (Entrance Test and Application Processing fees) Rs. 3500/- (for all candidates)

IMPORTANT CHECKLIST
  • No document is to be attached with online application form.
  • On the day of interview, the candidates are advised to bring the Self attested Photocopies of all certificates regarding:-
    1. DoB
    2. DMC of all examinations,
    3. Character certificatefrom the institution last attended,
    4. Gap certificate (if any),
    5. Necessary certificate from employer (for employed candidates only),
    6. Residence/ domicile certificate
    7. Certificate for availing the benefit of a reserved category/ additional seat (Latest and signed by the competent issuing authorities).
    8. Any other document supporting your candidature as per University Online Admission Brochure.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
  • Size of Photograph and Signature should be less than 20 KB each.
  • A Candidate who has appeared in the qualifying examination and his/her result is still awaited, may also apply and can submit his/her admission form online as the case may be. He/She has to update his/her online form whenever he/she gets the result till the date given by Centralized Admission Cell (it is in the interest of the applicant), otherwise, he/she will be required to submit his/her result at the time of interview.
