The college was established in 1887. It was founded through the amalgamation of  Hyderabad School and the Madrasa-i-Aliya, Nizam College. It is one of the oldest colleges for higher education in South India. It had its affiliation with the University of Madras for 60 years. On 19 February It became a constituent college of Osmania University. It offers UG and PG courses in Arts and Science.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process

Nizam college is one of the best colleges in Telangana and India... It is the oldest college and located in Hyderabad. For BCA course the eligibility is 10+2 inter pass is compulsory and 50% marks If it gets should apply in online. There is no entrance exam only merit-based. There are no cutoffs only according to category and merit-based.

The admission is done through online. There was no entrance test. Counselling phases were held. According to my inter certificate I got admission in 1st phase only. They mentioned no cut off.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

(a). A student seeking admission to B.Sc./B.Com./B.A. courses should have passed the Intermediate Examination conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, A.P.or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto. For admission into B.Sc.,the student should have studied the relevant subjects at +2 level (for Physical Sciences - MPC; for Biological Sciences BPC) while all students who have passed intermediate are eligible to apply for B.Com. & B.A. courses irrespective of the subjects studied at the Intermediate level.

(b). A student seeking admission to B.Sc. I Year course should have passed the qualifying examination with at least 40% marks in the optional subjects. S.C. & S.T. categories are eligible if they secure pass marks in the optional subjects.

(c). No candidate is permitted to pursue more than one course at a time in the same institution or different institutions.

(d). All students pursuing degree courses in Nizam College are eligible to enroll for the certificate and diploma courses introduced under UGC (COP) add-on scheme by the college.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE:

I. Admissions are made strictly on the basis of merit. On the date and time of the spot admission, when a candidate's name, marks, etc. are announced he/she has to produce the receipt of the application form to obtain entry into the admission room.

II. After verification of certificates and counseling, IN CASE OF BEING ALLOTED ADMISSION candidates are required to fill in the 'Admission Form', pay the fees ON THE SPOT and submit the form along with the Original Transfer Certificate and two sets of photocopies (duly attested) of the other certificates listed below and collect the Admission Slip.

a. Transfer Certificate from the Institution where the candidate has studied Intermediate or its equivalent.

b. Pass Certificate/Provisional Certificate of the qualifying examination.

c. Memorandum of Marks.

d. Study Certificate/Bonafide Certificate of School and Intermediate.

e. Proof of Local/Non-local status according to the rules in force. Annexure I & II).

f. B.C./S.C./S.T. Caste Certificates issued on or after 1-4-2015 by a competent authority through 'MEESEVA' only. (Annexure-III).

The humanities deal with the histories, literatures and cultures of human civilisation, while the social sciences study sociology, anthropology, political behaviours and other forms of human behaviour and organisation.

With a choice of six different European and Asian languages in the degree you can learn a new language and study its related popular culture, art, film and literature. The School of Music provides opportunities for developing performance skills in instrumental or vocal studies, composition, and the study of musicology and music education.
