Any student with minimum 70% marks in 4 main subjects in boards exams can apply with English as a compulsory subject. The student must be good at spoken English.The admission procedure is quite simple.u can apply online and if they like ur application they will call for an interview and if u get through it ur name would appear in the merit list.There are no such entrance exams except for interview.

Facilities at J. D. Birla Institute (J D Birla), Kolkata


  • Spacious and well-equipped canteen facility is available at MIT's campus. A complete and planned meal is served in neat, clean and hygienic surroundings. Apart from the north and south Indian nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner, the canteen also serves appetizing Chinese food. Tea, coffee and soft drinks along with snacks are also available. All the items are reasonably priced. Monthly Mess facility is also available for the students as well as staff members.

Medical Facilities:

  • Fully equipped dispensaries with doctors are available at our premises. Various medical check-ups and campaigns are held free of charge for all the students and faculty members during every academic year.

Merit-Cum-Means Freeship
  • Freeship is granted by the Management based on merit and financial status of the students. Freeship may also be granted to students with proven record of representing the State / Country in any co-curricular or extra-curricular activities.
  • To avail of this facility, students should fill the prescribed form available at the college office and submit the same to the Principal’s office at least two months before the commencement of the next semester along with the required documents.
    Granting of freeship is at the sole discretion of the management and the decision of the management in this regard is final.

Here are the details:


The Admission process starts immediately after the declaration of Class-XII results of major national Boards recognized by Jadavpur University.

A student who is selected for enrolment in a particular course offered by the College will have to complete admission procedures and get herself registered within the notified time period.

Application for admission has to be made on the prescribed form obtained from the office of the Institute, on the designated days (Monday to Friday between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm) only. Students may also apply online.

Application forms are non-transferable.

Form must be collected in the name of the applicant only.

Forms should be complete in all respect with coloured passport size photo pasted firmly on appropriate boxes.

Cost of the Application Form is Rs. 1,300/- only. Online applicants can pay the money (Rs. 1,500/-) through Net Banking, Debit Card, or Credit Card.


  1. Only female candidates are eligible for admission to the B.Com courses.
  2. Candidates must have good knowledge of the English language.
  3. A candidate seeking admission to three year B.Com (Hons.) course of the Institute must have passed Class-XII examination of any recognized Board / Council recognized by Jadavpur University with a combination of four recognized subjects of which at least one is English and securing at least 55% marks in the aggregate.

Selection Procedure

  1. Candidates will be short-listed first on the basis of criteria 1-4 mentioned below i.e. marks obtained in the Class-XII board examination, having mathematics as a subject in Class-XII, awards won and special training. Only the first 900 candidates as per the merit list will be called for group discussion.
  2. Academic Performance Average percentage of marks obtained in best of four subjects at the Class-XII level Marks obtained in the Class-XII board examination (marks obtained in the best four core subjects of which it must be English will be taken.
  3. The following subject like compulsory EVS, fashion studies, multimedia, music, dance, art, physical education and other vernacular subjects will not be considered) 2 Mathematics in Class-XII These points will be awarded on the basis of marks secured in Class-XII as follows:  No Mathematics – 0 Point  1- 10% Marks Obtained in Mathematics- 1 Point.
  4. 11- 20% Marks Obtained in Mathematics - 2 Points
  5. 21- 30% Marks Obtained in Mathematics - 3 Points
  6. 31- 40% Marks Obtained in Mathematics - 4 Points
  7. 41-50% Marks Obtained in Mathematics - 5 points
  8. 51-60% Marks Obtained in Mathematics - 6 Points
  9. 61-70% Marks Obtained in Mathematics - 7 Points
  10. 71-80% Marks Obtained in Mathematics - 8 Points
  11. 81-90% Marks Obtained in Mathematics - 9 Points

Selected candidates will have to pay the fees within 24 hours of the merit list being put up or else the seat will be given to the candidate next on the merit list.
