Indira Gandhi Medical College at Shimla (HPMC) was instituted in the year 1966 with admissions of 50 students in the first batch. It is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University Shimla. Himachal Pradesh Medical College was renamed Indira Gandhi Medical College in 1984. The admission facility was expanded to 65 in the year 1978. Now MBBS seats have been raised to 100. The postgraduate courses were introduced with 16 disciplines in the year 1981.

Indira Gandhi Medical College offers MBBS, B.Sc., and B.Sc. Para Medical in four specializations along with Post Basic B.Sc. in Nursing at UG level. At the PG level, IGMC Shimla offers MD/ MS in 20 specialization departments, under Speciality Courses, the college offers DM and M.Ch. in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery.

• The candidates should be passed from 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as subjects.
• The candidate should attend the NEET UG entrance examination to apply for MBBS.
• For B.Sc. and Para Medical Courses, candidates must pass 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks in the subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology).
• For B.Sc.and Para-Medical courses, candidate should appear for Combined Entrance Test (CET). 
• MS and MD are eligible for candidates who qualify MBBS with an aggregate of 50% marks and they have to attend NEET PG entrance examinations.

Courses offered by Indira Gandhi Medical College

The IGMC offers courses like MBBS, B.Sc and Para Medical Courses in four specializations, And also UG courses like MD and MS.

Indira Gandhi Medical College Application Form 2024

Application forms for admission in UG, PG and Speciality courses can be obtained from the college office. The MD/MS application form cost INR 1500 for General Category and INR 1000 for SC/ST Category. The cost of UG admission application form cost INR 1000 for General Category INR 500 for SC/ ST category.

• The application form and prospectus are available in the college office.
• The candidate should collect the form and prospectus and fill all the details.
• After filling the form it can be submitted to the college along with the documents through registered/speed post or direct.
• All the documents should be attested before handing over.
• The documents needed are attested copy of mark sheet, High School Certificate, Permanent Registration certificate from Medical Council of India, Identity Proof.

• The tuition fee for MBBS for 5 years is INR 2,60,000.
• The Tuition fee for B.Sc Nursing for 4 years is INR 66,250.

IGMC offers undergrad courses in MBBS, B.Sc Nursing, B.Sc Para-Medical. 

• The candidates who are applying for UG admission should be eligible. The candidate should attend the NEET UG entrance examination to apply for  MBBS.
•  The candidates should be passed from 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as subjects.
