All the candidates must fulfil each and every one of the following five criteria to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2019.
Criterion 1 – Performance in JEE Main :
Candidates should be among the top 2,24,000 (including all categories) in Paper-1 of JEE (Main) IIT Delhi admissions 2019.
The percentages of various categories of candidates to be shortlisted should be within 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and the remaining 50.5% is OPEN for all.
Within each of these four categories, 5% horizontal reservation is available for PwD candidates.
The following table shows the order to be followed while choosing top 2,24,000 candidates in various categories based on the performance in Paper-1 of JEE (Main) 2019.
Criterion 2 –
Age limit of the candidates should be 25 years on or after October 1st of the year of admission.
Five years relaxation is given to SC, ST and PWD candidates.
Criterion 3 –
Criterion 4 –
Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination: A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either the same year or the former one.
Criterion 5 –
Former admission at IITs: A candidate should NOT have been admitted in an IIT irrespective of whether or not he/she continued in the program OR accepted an IIT seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past.
Candidates whose admission at IITs was cancelled after joining any IIT are also NOT eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced).
Candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time can appear in JEE (Advanced).
The candidates who paid seat acceptance fee in but (i) did not report at any reporting centre OR, (ii) withdrew before the last round of seat allotment, OR, (iii) had their seat cancelled (for whatever reason) before the last round of seat allotment for IITs, during the joint seat allocation in, are eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced).
However, in any of the above cases, the candidate is required to fulfill the conditions mentioned from Criterion 1 to Criterion 4.
The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology (4 years after 10+2 or 3 years after B.Sc/ Diploma in Engineering / Technology) for IIT, Delhi admission 2019.
B. Arch :
The applicant should have a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (5 years course) from a recognized University.
B.Sc (Research) / BS :
The applicant should have a Bachelor’s degree in Science (Post-Diploma/ 4 years after (10+2)).
M.Sc / MA / MCA or equivalent :
The applicants should have a Master’s degree in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent.
Integrated ME/ M.Tech (Post-B.Sc.) :
The applicants should have a Post-B.Sc Integrated Master’s degree programs in Engineering/ Technology (4 years program).
Integrated M.E/ M.Tech or Dual Degree (after Diploma or 10+2):
Integrated Master’s degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering/Technology (5 years program)
Integrated M.Sc/ Integrated BS-MS :
The applicants should have an Integrated M.Sc or 5 years Integrated BS-MS program to be eligible to apply for admission to IIT, Delhi.
Integrated M.Sc or 5 years Integrated B.S -M.S program :
The applicant should have a BE/ B.Tech/ B.Arch equivalent examinations of Professional Societies, recognized by MHRD/ UPSC/ AICTE (e.g., AMIE by Institution of Engineers-India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers-India).
Applicants should register for appearing in JEE (Advanced) for IIT Delhi admissions 2019.
Registration is only through the online registration portal where detailed instructions for registration will be provided.
Step-2: Upload the scanned copies of all requisite documents
Step-3: Pay registration fee. Registration fee is NEITHER refundable NOR transferable.
The Admission Form will not be considered, if it is found to be incomplete in any respect or if the payment is not successful, irrespective of satisfying the ER and MEQ of any programme(s) for which the Admission Form has been submitted.
The Applicant will be considered for admission only to the programme(s), given in his/ her Admission Form for IIT Delhi admission 2019.
Taking into consideration the order of preference as given in the Admission Form and corresponding rank(s) in the Merit List, the First Admission List/ First Admission Round for each programme under JAM 2019 will be prepared by the Organizing Institute and will be announced through JAM website SMS/ Email.
Once an offer is received, Applicants can log into and choose one of the three options viz. Accept and freeze, Accept with Upgrade and Reject and Quit
Accept and Freeze: By choosing "Accept and Freeze", the Applicant accepts the offered seat and would not like to upgrade to his/ her higher preferences, if any, the subsequent rounds (if applicable). The applicant also will not be considered for admission in the subsequent rounds (if any).
Accept with Upgrade: By choosing "Accept with Upgrade", the Applicant accepts the offered seat and would like to upgrade to his/ her higher preferences in the subsequent rounds (if any).
Reject and Quit: By choosing "Reject and Quit", the Applicant rejects the offered seat and would not like to continue in the admission process.
The seat offered to the Applicant would be cancelled and he/ she will not be considered further in the JAM 2019 Admission process.
For "Accept and Freeze" and "Accept with Upgrade" decisions, the Applicant will be directed to ONLINE payment portal to pay the "Seat Booking Fee" of Rs. 10000/- for General/OBC-NCL category Applicants and Rs. 5000/- for SC/ST/PwD category
Applicants through ONLINE ONLY using credit card/ debit card/ netbanking (additional charges apply depending on the mode of payment).
No challan payment is accepted. This amount will be transferred to the Admitting Institute and will be adjusted against the Institute Fee at the time of Admission.
For "Reject and Quit" decision, the Applicant will receive a One Time Password (OTP) in their registered mobile number.
The OTP has to be entered to confirm the decision.
If seats remain vacant after the first admission process is over, the Organizing Institute will prepare a Second admission list.
Applicants who have been offered admission through the Second List but not through the First List, must log into and choose one of the three options viz. (a) Accept and Freeze (b)Accept with Upgrade (c) Reject andQuit
As mentioned, for "Accept and Freeze" and "Accept with Upgrade" decisions, the Applicant will be directed to the online payment portal to pay the "Seat Booking Fee" of Rs. 10000/- for General/OBC/NCL category Applicants and Rs. 5000/- for SC/ST/PwD category.
Applicants through ONLINE ONLY using credit card/ debit card/ net banking (additional charges apply depending on the mode of payment).
This amount will be transferred to the Admitting Institute and it will be adjusted against the Institute Fee at the time of Registration.

If the Applicant who was offered a seat during First List and is offered a seat from his/ her higher order of preference (in the second list), the Applicant must log into and choose one of the three options viz. (a) Accept and Freeze (b). Accept with Upgrade (c) Reject and Quit
The Applicant need not pay Seat Booking Fee once again, for "Accept" decisions.
Withdraw: The Applicants who have accepted an offer of the seat can cancel/ opt out of the programme/ withdraw from the programme by selecting "Withdraw".
The Seat Booking Fee (if paid by them) would be refunded after deducting a processing fee of Rs. 1000/-.
If seats remain vacant even after the second admission process is over, the Organizing Institute will prepare a Third and Final Admission List.
The Applicants who were offered a seat (or upgraded to the higher choice of preference) should report to the Admitting Institutes along with the documents required by the Admitting Institute based on their offer letter.
With the Third and Final Admission List, the admission process based on JAM will come to a close.
If a qualified candidate is allotted a seat through the First Admission List and if the offer of admission is accepted, the lower preferences of the candidate, if any, will be automatically cancelled.
However, the candidate will remain on the waiting list for all the higher preferences.
Qualified Applicants, who are not allotted any seat in the First/ Second Admission List, will remain on the waiting list in the next round of admission(s).
For GATE, all information related to the application process will be available on the GOAPS website.
The photograph, signature, certificate of qualifying degree, category certificate (SC/ ST/ PwD) and/or Dyslexic certificate, wherever applicable, must be uploaded during the online application.
Candidates must enter the ID number specified in any one of the following IDs: Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar-UID, College ID, Employee ID and Driving License.
The candidates who do not possess any of these identity cards may please procure any one of them before making the application.
Candidates qualified in JEE (Advanced) 2019 will be eligible for admission to the mentioned academic programs at IITs subject to satisfying at least one of the following two criteria:
The candidates must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination. The aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates should be at least 65% for IIT Delhi admissions 2019
The candidates must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) Board Examination.
Candidates who are eligible for admission will have to participate in joint seat allocation process by filling in their choices of the courses.
The schedule of the joint seat allocation will be announced by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2019.
Only the candidates who qualified in JAM (whose names appear in the Merit List) are eligible to apply for admission the corresponding academic programmes available at IITs
Candidates are advised, in their own interest, to refer to the brief profiles of the Admitting Institutes and Departments at their respective websites for IIT Delhi admission 2019.
Candidates should note that they have to apply for admission by filling an online Application Form for Admission (henceforth called Admission Form) available only at JAM website.
Based on the test paper(s) qualified, a Candidate can apply to one or more academic programmes covered under that test paper(s), subject to fulfilment of the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) and the Eligibility Requirements (ERs) of the Admitting Institute(s).
These applicants are advised to refer to the JAM website for latest updates.
A candidate can appear for only one of the 23 GATE papers for IIT Delhi admissions 2019.
The examination of all the papers will be conducted in an ONLINE Computer Based Test (CBT) mode where the candidates will be shown the questions on a computer screen.
After the evaluation of the answers, the actual (raw) marks obtained by a candidate will be considered for computing the GATE Score.
For multi-session papers (subjects), raw marks obtained by the candidates in different sessions will be converted to Normalized marks for that particular subject.
Thus, raw marks (for single session papers) or normalized marks (for multi-session papers) will be used for computing the GATE
Score based on the qualifying marks.
JEE Main is the eligibility criteria to get the admission. Based on their score and rank in the JEE Main, students are shortlisted for counseling. The candidates must have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th grade conducted by respective boards.

All India rank of around 120 or better in JEE Advanced is the criteria for admission. JEE Mains also needs to be cleared for qualifying in JEE Advanced.
