Dr Ambedkar College trains its students in all specialties in order to equip them with broad skills across the medical spectrum, which will allow them to choose a future specialty with care and consideration. The undergraduate degree (MBBS) has a duration of 5 and a half years, which is followed by a 1-year compulsory rotational internship.

The applicant must be of 17 years of age at the time of BR Ambedkar Medical College admission or before the end of the calendar year. In order to apply for the MBBS degree, the candidate must have studied in the science stream for their 12th standard examination, with the compulsory subjects being Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, and an aggregate of 60%. A relaxation of 5% is allowed for the students in the reserved category.

BR Ambedkar Medical College offers 14 specializations under MD and 4 specializations under MS. The duration of the postgraduate degree is 3 years. Students enrolled in the postgraduate program will be working as junior residents and tutors in their respective departments, alongside their studies.

In order to apply for any of any MD or MS programs at BR Ambedkar Medical College Bangalore, the applicant must have passed their final year MBBS as well as finished their one-year internship. They should have obtained permanent registration from Karnataka State Medical Council before joining the course. All students, other than those who have studied from RGUHS, should produce an eligibility certificate before the last date of admission.
