Darrang College was established in 1945 by the people of Tezpur. Darrang College was permanently affiliated to Gauhati University in 1953 with the motto of “Be a Jewel among men”. It has been uninterruptedly working for fruitful dissemination of knowledge to its pupils with the solemn aim of making them worthy citizens of the country. The admissions for the session has not started yet, but looking at previous years the admission should start from the month of June. Darrang College offers various courses to UG and PG students. Admissions are made purely based on merit and the prescribed criteria for each course. Admission to Darrang College 2002 is done through an entrance exam conducted by the college. Candidates need to score good marks in the entrance exam in order to take admission in this college. Darrang College Tezpur admission process for the new academic year, 2020 will start immediately after the declaration of HSLC/ AHSEC result. The online application fee is INR 250/-. Admissions will be strictly on the basis of merit and other board applicants will be standardized according to the SEBA. The College admits all the applicants strictly on merit basis. No forms will be accepted after the last date of submission under any circumstances. Subject combinations cannot be changed after admission. The merit list for ‘Reserved Category’ will be prepared as per Government Rules. Students claiming seats against the Co-Curricular category must submit a separate application in plain paper in the admission counter. Only State and National Level Certificates will be entertained. In case the candidate has not studied the subject in + 2 level in which he/she desires to take Honours (only in the case of those subjects which are allowed as per GU regulations), his/her eligibility will be considered on the basis of aggregate percentage. Hostel seats are allotted strictly on merit. A student has to make the necessary payment for the purpose. 16. All admissions are governed by the College Admission rules. The decision of the admission committee regarding admission is final. Subjects like - Fine Arts, Music, Dance, Work Experience, Vocational Subjects will not be considered for counting merit positions. However, Candidates having more than three years of study gap will not be eligible for admission. Admission Committee may refuse admission to a candidate whose documents are not genuine or not found to be in the proper format. Admissions will be canceled for those students who gain admission using any malpractices.
Students can choose from various Science, Arts and Commerce courses offered by Darrang college. The faculty members of the Commerce Department are well and good. They make learning easy. E-book available in the library. The surrounding environment is awesome for studying. Your admission into TDC totally depends on how high you score in comparison to others. There were no cut off marks as on 2017 batch. But the sits are limited to taking a major course.
