The MOMA scholarship 2024, provided by the Ministry of Minority Affairs under the Government of India, is a centrally funded scholarship available to students from minority communities. Therefore, candidates who are Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Parsis can apply for the MOMA scholarship.

The Government provides pre-matric, post-matric and merit-cum-means schemes under the MOMA scholarship. The MOMA scholarship 2023-24 last date is November 15, 2024 (tentatively).

Objective of MOMA Scholarship

MOMA scholarship is a Merit-cum-Means scholarship for Minorities awarded by the Ministry of Minority Affairs [MOMA] for students belonging to the minority community. This scholarship scheme for students was launched to support those in financial need. The scholarship award is up to INR 20,000 per year. 

About 20,000 students benefit from continuing their education through the MOMA Scholarship. Approximately 30% of the scholarship amount is allocated to female students, and from each family maximum of two students can apply to the MOMA scholarship. The MOMA scholarship list 2024 has been split into four categories:

  • Pre-Matric Scheme for Minorities
  • Post Matric Scheme for Minorities
  • Merit-cum-Means Scholarship for Professional and Technical Courses

Pre Matric Scheme for Minorities

The students from classes 1 to 10 with family incomes less than INR 1 Lakh can benefit from the pre-matric MOMA scholarship. The students must have scored a minimum of 50% in the previous examination, and scholarship award ranges up to INR 600. The MOMA scholarship online application last date for the pre-matric scheme has not been updated yet.

Eligibility Criteria for Pre Matric Scholarship for Minorities

The candidates should meet all the requirements while applying for the pre-matric MOMA scholarship. Minority candidates from class I can apply for the pre-matric scheme. The other MOMA scholarship eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • The applicants must be studying in classes 1 to 10.
  • The students must have scored a minimum of 50% in the previous final examination except for class 1.
  • The annual income limit must not exceed INR 1,00,000.

Pre Matric Scholarship Scheme Rewards

The MOMA scholarship amount for the pre-matric scholarship scheme is tabulated below:

Post Matric Scheme for Minorities

Students of the minority category from class 11 to PhD are eligible for family income less than INR 2 lakh per annum. They must have scored at least 50% in the previous final examination. The MOMA scholarship online application last date for the post-matric scheme will be updated soon.

Eligibility Criteria for Post Matric MOMA Scholarship

The shortlisting process for the post-matric scholarship for minorities is based on the following factors:

  •  They must be a student of class 11 or 12.
  • Students who have taken admission into technical and vocational courses which are equivalent to higher secondary are eligible.
  • Aspirants pursuing polytechnic courses are eligible to apply under this scheme. 
  • The student must have scored a minimum of 50% in the previous final examination.
  • The annual income limit must not be more than INR 2,00,000.

Merit-cum-Means Scholarship for Professional and Technical Courses

This scholarship is provided to students pursuing professional and technical courses at the graduate or postgraduate level. This national minority scholarship is offered to candidates whose annual family income is less than INR 2.5 Lakhs.

The applicant must have a minimum of 50% in the previous final examination. The MOMA scholarship online application last date for the merit-cum-means scheme will be updated soon.

Eligibility Criteria for Merit-cum-Means Scholarship

The shortlisting process for the professional and technical courses scholarship for minorities is based on the following factors:

  • Candidates who have already applied for admissions into technical and professional courses at the graduate and postgraduate levels are eligible to apply.
  • The student must have scored a minimum of 50% in the previous final examination.
  • The candidate's annual family income limit should not be more than INR 2.5 lakhs.

Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Rewards

The MOMA scholarship amount for the professional and technical courses scheme is tabulated below:

Application Process for MOMA Scholarship

The eligible candidates have to apply online to avail of the MOMA scholarship 2024. The details must be filled in accordance with the guidelines of the scholarship and submitted. They should ensure they apply for the schemes within the MOMA scholarship last date 2024. In addition, the candidates can also view the MOMA scholarship result 2024 on the portal. The application process is mentioned below.

Note: Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jain and Zoroastrians (Parsis) have been considered minority communities under the 2 (c) section of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992. The selected beneficiaries will be granted an admission fee, tuition fee, and maintenance allowance.

How to Apply for MOMA Scholarship?

The candidates can obtain the MOMA scholarship form 2024 on the official NSP portal. Read below to learn how to apply for the MOMA scholarship:

  1. The MOMA Scholarship portal has been down due to some technical issues. 
  2. First, they must complete the MOMA scholarship online registration on the National Scholarship Portal (MOMA scholarship online registration tab).
  3. After registration, they will obtain the MOMA scholarship student login credentials.
  4. After the registration process is complete, select the MOMA scholarship schemes and start the application process.
  5. Select the category under which the applicant falls.
  6. Fill in all the details that are required carefully.
  7. The applicants must upload the necessary documents.
  8. The candidates can check the MOMA scholarship status online by using the credentials on the official website.

MOMA Scholarship Selection Process

The MOMA scholarship selection process for all four categories is as mentioned below:

  1. The committee will select the candidates based on financial conditions in case of the post-matric and pre-matric schemes.
  2. In the case of professional and technical courses, merit is also considered.
  3. Older applicants are preferred for the post and pre-matric scholarship scheme.
  4. Students who are enrolled in reputed institutions will be given preference.
  5. The MOMA scholarship committee will share the details of the selected candidates.
  6. The status of the MOMA scholarship can be checked by logging in to the scholarship portal.

The MOMA scholarship documents required for the pre-matric scheme are as follow:

  • Candidate's passport size photo.
  • Income certificate of parent or guardian.
  • Community certificate (attested by self if above 18, below 18 attested by parent/ guardian).
  • Certificate of the final examination (self-attested).
  • Aadhar card/ bank passbook.
  • Residential or domicile proof.
  • MOMA scholarship declaration form

The students should submit the following documents for the MOMA scholarship post-matric scheme:

  • Passport size photo of the applicant
  • Family income certificate
  • Self attested mark sheets of the previous year
  • Course fee receipt of the current year

  • Aadhar card or its enrolment number

The students should submit the following documents for the MOMA scholarship professional and technical courses scheme:

  • Bank passbook copy
  • Domicile certificate or proof of residence
  • Aadhar number

MOMA Scholarship Renewal Policy

The MOMA scholarship renewal process is the same for all four categories. However, it is based on the following factors:

  • The applicant must be pursuing the same course in the same institution.
  • They must also produce a certificate citing that the individual has secured a minimum of 50% in the previous exam.
  • The candidates should complete the MOMA scholarship login process before applying for the renewal.

Terms and Conditions of the MOMA Scholarship

The terms and conditions to be followed to avail of the scholarship are:

  • About 30% of these scholarships are reserved for the girl students. It can be transferred to male candidates if the female candidates do not apply for the MOMA scholarship.
  • A maximum of 2 students can apply for the MOMA scholarship from one family.
  • The student must attend regular classes.
  • The scholarship will be suspended if university discipline and norms are not adhered to.
  • The student cannot avail of any other scholarship and its benefits if they are availing of the MOMA scholarship scheme.
  • The candidates should apply before the MOMA scholarship form's last date.
  • The candidates can track the MOMA scholarship payment status on the official portal.
