Sreedhar's review on National Institute of Technology, [NIT] Calicut | Written on: 24 May 2016

  • The annual college fees is Rs. 35,000.
  • Scholarships are less in this institution.
  • Only few get students get scholarships who are meritorious.
  • Other people get some private scholarships which they have to pay double the amount they get.
  • Due to high fee a student compulsorily needs an education loan and they are available easily at the beginning of the academic year.
  • Banks like State Bank Of India and PNB are the only ones available for educational loans.

  • I didn't get any internship opportunity.
  • The placement percentage is below 50.
  • For civil engineering the opportunities are less at campus level.

  • There are many hostels in the college.
  • They charge very high even though it is government institution.
  • Only the hostel fee is approximately Rs. 900 per month.
  • The mess charges are separate, it is around Rs. 2,500.
  • The quality of food is not good.
  • The Wifi provided here is good.

MBA, batch of 2014

  • NIT Calicut has Head of Departments, Professors, Assistant Professors, Associate professors, and Ad-hoc faculties who are well equipped to take classes.
  • The number of class hours varies depending on the course being pursued and in usually only between 20-30 hours a week for B. Tech course.
  • Such relaxed classroom sessions provide students with time for other projects, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities.
  • B. Tech is an 8-semester course, with each semester lasting about 4 months.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process:
  • My course is EDT(Electronic Design and Technology) in M.Tech in NIT Calicut. The Eligibility criteria for a candidate interested in pursuing M.Tech in NIT, Calicut is a B.Tech degree and a good GATE score out of 1000.
  • The cutoff is different for every category. I joined in the year 2015 and at that time cutoff for different categories were as follows- OC-663,OBC-522,SC-386,ST-316 (all the scores that I have mentioned above is the minimum score for that category and it may vary).

B.Arch., batch of 2017

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process:
  • One who has done senior secondary taking physics, chemistry and mathematics are eligible for pursuing B.ARCH.
  • I gave AIEEE entrance exam to enter in NIT Calicut but now only a single exam JEE PRE and MAINS are there for selection in NITs and IITs
  • Usually, if anyone has more than 250 marks in Mains and more than 90% in Board Exams then he or she will get top colleges
  • Currently , I am doing the internship in firm name ARCHADE FOUNDATION without any stipend
