Rahul's review on Guru Nanak Dev University, [GNDU] Amritsar | Written on: 01 Jan 1970

  • There are almost 4 classes of different subjects of one hour each having a schedule of 9 A.M to 5 P.M for 5 days in a week.
  • There are practicals in a weak of two hours each.
  • The taeching quality is good as they are knowledgable.
  • The overall college experience is good.

  • The college fees is Rs. 1 lakh per year (around Rs. 60,000 for odd semester and Rs. 45,000 for even semester).
  • There are scholarships available to those that are not able to pay the fees. So an interview is conducted for this process.
  • Its around 10% students of every class who get this scholarship and some are getting full fees concession and some are getting half fees concession.

  • The key companies come here are TCS, Capgemini, CSC, Nagarro, etc.
  • The average salary a student gets after their graduation is around Rs. 3.2 lakhs annually. The highest salary according to me is Rs. 5 lakhs per annum or maybe more thean that. From placement point of view, our university plays an important role as more then 80% of the students get placed in different companies after their graduation.

  • For boys, there are two hostels having different number of blocks further. The infrastructure of the hostel is very old.
  • The food is average in hostel's mess. It costs around Rs. 23 per meal in the mess.
  • Classrooms, Labs, Libraries, have good infrastructure. Wifi is available to every hostelite but there is limit on the data usage as we have 200 MB allotted per day which one can use after 5 PM and before 9 AM from Monday to Friday.

  • There are societies for every department. Likewise in our department we have CESS society for students.
  • There was TechFest last year and there is Jashan festival in the whole univeristy every year in which every department participated. Right now Jashan is going on.
  • The overall life is good. The only lag in our university is the exposure.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process:
  • I applied through the PTU counseling and got admission in GNDU based upon my rank in JEE Mains in the year 2013 which was 43001. Although I am not sure that up to how many ranks was they taking in students but at that time it was almost 90,000, I think. Although nowadays they have admitted students who haven\'t even given the Mains exam. So, you can guess what\'s the condition right now.
