  • There are a students association and campus is excellent at the University of Kashmir.

  • The university of Kashmir also conducts extra curriculum activities like sports, science and literature seminars, technical festivals etc.
  • The class timings in University of Kashmir is from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. Exams are taken half yearly.
  • The quality of education and method of teaching is good but not too good.
  • The overall experience is average.

  • The class timings are from 10 am - 3:30 pm and we have almost 4 classes per day. Since i am doing final year, we have only 4 working days per week and the rest are for project. I am doing a project in .net and linux and we have to submit our project in this last semister.Some teachers really work hard but we lack practical method of studying.
  • It is fine not so good but i would say not so bad as well.

  • When it come to computer education in Kashmir and Kashmir University is way behind the rest of the world.....A Lot of courses are available at University of Kashmir, Srinagar but almost each and every one of them has outdated syllabus especially BCA.
  • The international exposure is not available at  University of Kashmir, Srinagar.
  • Very active and huge sports fields available at University of Kashmir, Srinagar.                                                                          
  • No alcohol, No bars Around the University of Kashmir, Srinagar campus. No tolerance of almost anything.

ACADEMICS & FACULTY: The University offers innovative courses for complimenting the efforts of the already existing Universities in the State. Recruitment of the faculty and the admission of the students are done on all-India basis, adhering to reservation policy of Central Government. National-level entrance examination for admission are held by the University at many centers across the country
FOREIGN EXCHANGE & INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE: We've been part of two workshops organized by our department. The resource persons where Internationally acclaimed Journalists
SOCIAL ATMOSPHERE: There is not much space to play and roam around since it is a makeshift campus

About University of Kashmir, Srinagar

The University of Jammu and Kashmir was founded in the year 1948. In the year 1969 it was bifurcated into two full-fledged Universities: University of Kashmir at Srinagar and University of Jammu at Jammu. The University of Kashmir is situated at Hazratbal in Srinagar. It is flanked by the world famous Dal Lake on its eastern side and Nigeen Lake on the western side. The Main Campus of the University spread over 247 acres of land is divided into three parts – Hazratbal Campus, Naseem Bagh Campus and Mirza Bagh Campus (serving residential purpose). Additional land has been acquired at Zakura near the main campus for further expansion of the University. The tranquil ambience of the Campus provides the right kind of atmosphere for serious study and research.

Over the years University of Kashmir has expanded substantially. It has established Satellite Campuses at Anantnag (South Campus) and Baramulla (North Campus) and three more Satellite Campuses at Kupwara, Kargil and Leh are being established to make higher education more accessible to people living in remote areas of Kashmir valley.

The University has also established a Sub-Office at Jammu to cater to the needs of the candidates enrolled with the University from outside Kashmir. The University is committed to provide an intellectually stimulating environment for productive learning to enhance the educational, economic, scientific, business and cultural environment of the region. The University offers programmes in all the major faculties; Arts, Business & Management Studies, Education, Law, Applied Sciences & Technology, Biological Sciences, Physical & Material Sciences, Social Sciences, Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, Oriental Learning and Music & Fine Arts. It has been constantly introducing innovative/ new programmes to cater to the needs and demands of the students and the society.

Over the years, the University has marked towards excellence in its programmes and activities. It has been re-accredited as Grade-A University by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) of India in the year 2011. This is recognition and reflection of the high standard of quality in teaching and research at the University of Kashmir.


The University of Kashmir, since its establishment, has been focused at Hazratbal and encompassing three adjacent areas viz. Amar Singh Bagh, Naseem Bagh and Mirza Bagh. This Campus is spread over 263 acres (1.06 km2).

A major part of Amar Singh Bagh and Naseem Bagh constitute the Hazratbal campus which is laid out on the north-eastern bank of Dal Lake. Earlier, many postgraduate departments, research and other centres were housed in Naseem Bagh. But, the university resolved to develop Naseem Bagh into a herit

Career Planning And Counselling

The University established the Centre for Career Planning and Counselling in 2008. The mission of the Centre is to provide services and resources for students in career and educational planning as well as help them in their job search and provides a constructive professional environment to deal with any issue affecting the students’ studies. The major objectives of the Centre are:

  • To help students understand their issues and concerns;

  • To find ways in which to manage or cope with their prob

Merit Scholarships:

The meritorious students in each programme are eligible to receive merit scholarships which are paid to the first two top merit holders. Merit scholarship in favour of 1st & 2 nd semester students is granted on the basis of merit obtained in the Entrance Examination, while in the 3rd + 4th/5th +6th semesters, it is granted on the basis of merit obtained in the 1st + 2nd / 3rd + 4th semesters.
