ACADEMICS & FACULTY:
  • Daily routine in any Delhi University college is almost same. In SGGSCC, the first class is at 8:40 am and the last class can be as late as 4:00 pm. Well, most of the days these time can vary depending on Teacher's availability.
  • Projects are given to students in almost every semester in any one subject and are also checked very thoroughly. Exams are not that difficult. They can easily be cracked down by any student. But do prepare for the internal exams and practicals as they are set by the college teachers and can be difficult sometimes. Assignments are given to students on a weekly basis or after a particular chapter has been completed.
  • The quality of teaching for my stream i.e. Computer Science can be judged as Average as most of the teachers are young and inexperienced. But are very helpful and understanding and are ready to help whenever asked. The method of teaching is good as the teacher not only focuses on what will come in the exam but are also always trying to teach the students beyond that which will help them ahead in their life.
  • Overall experience in the college is very good. The college is involved in different kind of activities and hackathons and is always trying to keep and preserve the student's interest. Seniors are very helpful and can direct you on college functionalities once approached.

ACADEMICS & FACULTY: A less hectic academic schedule allowed us to pursue our hobbies and various other channels of learning in addition to the class room lectures. Students used to participate in various national as well as international business competitions throughout the year and ggs's performance had always been stellar on those platforms. Students took up live projects with various start ups from different industries and complemented their classroom learning. Overall a well rounded and balanced learning experience. In terms of faculty, we had some of the best professors in management education in India and most of them were full time faculty with ggs. However due to small number of quality professors and their research commitments, we were always short of teaching faculty.

FOREIGN EXCHANGE & INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE: ggs gets some seats in the university hostels which is allocated to students based on their academic performance. These seats are very limited apprx in the range of 15-20% of total batch size and most of the students reside in the nearby areas. There are various student accommodation options available and of all ranges. There are tiffin services available in the student area or one can hire a cook for nominal charges.Since it's not a residential program unlike many other top management schools, there are constraints in nurturing a very collaborative and well integrated learning environment on campus. However students make best use of their time on campus in interacting with each other and building long lasting relations.

FEES AND SCHOLARSHIP:
  • SGGSCC's yearly fee is one of the highest fees in Delhi University but as compared to other private and engineering colleges its much lower.
  • It's approximately Rs. 21000 in the first year. Then Rs. 17000 in the second. If the degree is 3 years then the last year fee is approximately Rs. 21000 as well. But if the degree is 4 years as is mine the 3rd year fee would the same as 2nd year and the 4th year fee will be approx. Rs 21000.
  • Yes, scholarships are awarded to those in need and don't have a very strong financial condition. A letter can be addressed to the college's principal stating your family's yearly income and attaching a tax affidavit as proof to get the scholarship.
  • Average number of students who get the scholarship are 5-10 per batch. It's a first come first serve basis. So do remember to write to the principal early. Comparing the fees from private colleges I don't think loan is required while paying the fees, but if anyone do requires it there is Punjab National Bank just alongside our college from where the loan can be taken

PLACEMENTS & ALUMNI NETWORK:
  • For internships, one can approach his/her stream HOD. They can very specifically guide you how to get an internship and can sometimes even offer you one.
  • Well most of the students in Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce have never gotten a stipend during an internship, most of those internships are experience based as there is no official internship drive in our college, so my advice don't expect a stipend. Many companies come to our campus via different placement cells offering jobs to students. Some of those companies are Delloite, Airtel, Cognizant, Exide Life Insurance, Oberoi Group, Teach For India, Gandhi Fellowship Program,Lloyd Ventures, SP Jain School of Management, Concentrix, Bajaj Capital,
  • Many key companies come to SGGSCC via different placement cells offering jobs to students. Some of those companies are Delloite, Airtel, Cognizant, Exide Life Insurance, Oberoi Group, Teach For India, Gandhi Fellowship Program,Lloyd Ventures, SP Jain School of Management, Concentrix, Bajaj Capital, Xprep, Mahindra ComViva etc. There is a wide variety of profiles offered by the company like Chief Analyst, Sales Mangement, Software Developer, TeleInvestment Services, Business development, Mutual fund advisor etc So one can definitely expect a job after completing their degree.
  • Average salary offered by different companies is generally CTC:2.5Lakhs - 3.5Lakhs per annum. In 2014, Airtel took a bunch of students offering a package of CTC:8Lakhs per annum. Recently Exide Life Insurance offered CTC:10lakh per annum. So the highest salary offered per year can be approximated as 8-10 lakhs per annum. Also almost 80-90% of the batch gets placed every year. Most of the students are rejected just bcoz of their aggregate percentage during the college years as they fail to meet the eligibility criteria of the company. So one have to be good and consistent in studies to get a job. Well the companies I listed above are some the largest companies in the world.
  • So judging from that one can say that the alumni network is very strong in the case of placement drives. So students can definitely trust their college alumni for a job.

PLACEMENTS & ALUMNI NETWORK: The college is pretty much serious with their academics. No lenient attendance marking. The teachers seem pretty knowledgeable and experienced. The schedule of classes starts at 8:45 in the morning till about 1:30. The college follows standard DU norms that is 2 semester exams per year with internal assessments in the form of class tests. Methodology of teaching also remains pretty standard and no innovative or different ways of teaching are adopted. Teachers are very dedicated and are always willing to clear up doubts even after the classes get over.

INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORTATION:
  • SGGSCC's infrastructure is one the best in Delhi University. Recently NAAC i.e. National Assessment and Accreditation Council awarded an 'A' grade to the college.
  • There is no hostel in or near the college. So if you are coming from distinct cities or countries do make your travel and staying arrangements beforehand.
  • There are many PGs and rent houses available near the college. One can easily search the internet or ask fellow students or look in the advertisement section of the newspaper for the same. PGs and rent houses cost is generally from Rs.20000-Rs.25000 per month including Maid services and water and electricity 24/7. Metro route is also available to the college and is the cheapest mode of transport in Delhi. College canteen is fully air conditioned and can easily accommodate 150-200 people at a time. The food here is very economical and cheap but the food itself is not very good.
  • College canteen is fully air conditioned and can easily accommodate 150-200 people at a time. The food here is very economical and cheap but the food itself is not very good. It contains a lot of oil and can also be unhygienic for some people. Also, there not a very vast variety if food items in the menu.
  • Classrooms in the college are very big and spacious. Some of the classrooms contain new benches while other does not. I guess they will also be replaced in the near future.
  • The college contains 3 computer labs - one for each department i.e. Computer, Commerce and Economics.
  • Your own unique wifi password can also be obtained from the library.
  • The college also contains one of the biggest in-house library in the Delhi University and any book needed by a student can be found here.
  • There is also a very big auditorium with balcony and capacity of almost 500 people for functions and College fests. The college is also very well known for its Cricket ground. Very big tournaments take place here.
  • Apart from this the college also contains a basketball court, a tennis court, a football ground, a volleyball court and a Gurdwara.

INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORTATION: Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce houses a state of the art architecture with all modern facilities and amenities available on campus. The infrastructure is in constant updation with a new fully air-conditioned canteen for both students and staff soon to come up. The architecture of the building and the Crimson Red Bricks give it a typical Delhi Campus feel. Although the campus is not HUGE, but it utilizes all the space it has very well. With academic blocks spread around the campus that have plants along the alleys, that make it look really classy. The cricket field is well maintained, and the pitch is regularly treated by the cricket academy of the college.  There is a separate 3 storeyed library building, and students would rate it number 1 library among all DU and IPU Colleges. The library building is centrally air-conditioned, and the space inside has been utilized well too, such that it can seat more students.  The college possess modern infrastructure including spacious class rooms, sprawling lawns, highly sophisticated computer labs, a seminar hall and a conference room. Classrooms are comfortable, although not air-conditioned, but well ventilated. In the labs, if you were to count the number of machines, there is one machine available for each student (which is generally not the scene at most colleges). All the required software is installed, and all the machines are updated to Windows 7 & Ubuntu. There is a constant very high speed free wifi available on campus for the students and faculty members. There is a digital electronics lab as well to teach students about various aspects of electronic components and circuits. As you enter the college premise, the structure you notice on the left is a state-of-the-art auditorium 'Sahibzaada Ajit Singh Auditorium', and the students make full use of it. From awesome boomboxes to super cool stagelights, the audi has all there is to offer. The contemporary designed college gurudwara & the building is a symbol of growth & commitment in every sphere & aspires students to achieve even better heights. The only down in the college infrastructure is that there is no hostel facility provided by the college, but as fate would have it, UGC has recently released funds for the construction of hostel dorms inside the campus and the construction is about to begin soon. You can also easily find PG options, nearby the college for Rs.3,000-Rs.6,000 a month including food.

There is no hostel facility provided by the college, but you can easily find PG options, nearby the college for Rs.4,000-Rs.8,000 a month including food. The canteen appears to be large and spacious, but when it comes to the number of people it can seat, it is not as big. Around 30-35 people can sit at a time. There is a CCD Express too that’s right opposite the canteen, where you can pick up fast food type snacks. The canteen is big & spacious, but the space could have been utilised better.

HOSTELS & FOOD: As of now there are no On campus housing options available, but UGC has announced and released funds for the construction of a hostel complex inside the college which can be expected to be complete by december 2016. But there are cheap and good Off campus housing options available nearby. Keshavpuram is filled with PG students from our and nearby colleges. The college being well connected by Metro(NSP Metro Station two minutes walk away) and bus service is a big plus for students who arent able to find a suitable accomadation nearby.  The best part about being in SGGSCC is the quality of available at this place. Even though the campus has limited options being the college canteen and an in campus CCD, the nearby Netaji Subhash Place Complex has loads to offer. From Pasta Houses, Hooka Corners, Starbucks, Dominoes, McDonaldsetc. to BTW, Suravi, Billu, HotSpot etc., this place has loads to offer and that to at all kinds of prices.  I would rate GGS a bit low due to no On Campus housing but I would rate it really high in terms of Food Quality and Availability.

SOCIAL ATMOSPHERE: The college campus itself is a beautiful place to chill with friends, that you would actually have to push yourself to hangout anywhere else. But whenever you do so, there are infinite options around the college, with Delhi Haat being the closest. There are a lot of malls, on the other side of the metro line, where you can just roam around. Fun Cinemas, and Movie time and DT Cinema multiplexes are also a nice option. At the NSP metro station, there is Domino’s, McDonalds and KFC where you go. If you plan to bunk the entire day, Adventure Island at Rithala is the best option. Majority of students here hail from Sikh families, and are really sweet when it comes to being friends with them. In fact there is a 5% relaxation for Sikh students with respect to the normal cut-offs. The entire campus is smoke-free, so you can have a pleasant time chilling in the clean and beautiful campus with your friends. You don’t need to call your seniors, SIR/Madam, which is quite stupid, a trend. And also ragging is a strict NO, and it’s followed too. Most of the students are from Delhi itself and around 30% students are outside Delhi, and by that we mean from different parts of India. Pitampura area is basically a posh locality, and it is safe for girls to venture out late in the evening around the college.
