ACADEMICS & FACULTY:
  • Faculty :
  • You can expect decent faculty at MPSTME. The pendulum of it sweeps a path from one of the worse to one of the finest! In the end, it's Mother Luck that decides which period of oscillation you experience. Students claim that Civil Engg. department teachers are very stubborn and loaded with attitude. Contrary to that, other departments have got a chalta hai attitude towards the teaching staff. The college has made some good improvement over the last two years as far as faculty is concerned. Some PhD holders while some just M.Tech/B.Tech passouts makes  it a striking blend of faculty at MPSTME. The teaching is good and can be relied upon.
  •
  • Attendance:
  • Attendance is a bit strict at NMIMS Mukesh Patel School of Technology, Management and Engineering. They demand a compulsory 80% attendance. Usually those below 75% but above 60% get penalties in the form of assignments and there have been cases of strict action against students of very low attendance. Many students have got a trim (trimester pattern) back and have to repeat the semester or give the exam duirng vacations. So, it is advisable to keep attendance above 65% at least. For the labs, it follows the ‘100% attendance’ policy.

PLACEMENTS & ALUMNI NETWORK:
  • As I said before, NMIMS classes last only upto 5 hours a day, maybe even 3, so that leaves a lot of time for students to explore other interests such as internships. I did 3 Internships during my three years of college, and that should be what every student should aim for.
  • Placements occur in the final semester of college, and last a fairly long time. A number of companies come, mostly from the Financial sector looking for Finance and B Com students. Marketing sees a lower number of companies coming, but no need to worry. If you have registered for the placements, you will get a large number of opportunities to be picked by some company or the other. It is down to the respective student to convert his or her opportunity.

INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORTATION:

One thing which ASMSOC at NMIMS really lags behind is the campus, if you can call it that. Being in Mumbai which is a supremely crowded city, SVKM (the parent group behind NMIMS and other colleges) has put a number of colleges within the same building. My building personally had 5 colleges, the most famous of which was Mithibai College.

There are two girls hostels which are pretty good and are situated within a 10-15 minutes walkin from college. They're situated in pretty safe areas, and the warden and security are always on alert. From what I have heard from my friends, the boys hostel may need some work to reach their level.

I personally rented an independent flat with some of my friends. The flat renting culture is pretty established in Mumbai, and most students choose to do that. Be warned however, that Mumbai real estate prices are super high. No decent 2 BHK will come under Rs. 40,000 per month.

The quality of classrooms which we did have was top notch. Air conditioned, with proper benches, white boards and projectors.

INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORTATION:
  • Infrastructure:
  • Infrastructure of NMIMS Mukesh Patel School of Technology, Management and Engineering is really niche above the rest. Recently constructed building adds to its fresh looks. Amazing classrooms with ultra modern facilities  are the highlights of this college. Entertainment rooms equipped with a high end table tennis table, a carom board and a relaxing zone. Highly informative library is one more of the college’s various goodies. Great place for a 2 night 3 day stay (Haha! But it's true).
  • Thankfully, the college has hostel facilities which are equally top notch. Since the college has over whelming response from all over the country, the hostel service is definitely a blessing in disguise for the non Mumbaikars.
  •
  • Canteen:
  • NMIMS Mukesh Patel School of Technology, Management and Engineering has an excellent canteen which caters  to the needs of all the taste buds. From Pav Bhaji to South Indian,Chaat to Chocolcate Milk Shakes, Lunch Plate to Chinese, Rolls to Parathas and mouthwatering lassis, lime water, cadburys and candies -  the canteen has it all (still not satisfied? Go die!). And the best part is that the prices are dirt cheap while the quality is five star. Extremely spacious. Most of the students have their meals in the canteen followed by students of neighbouring SVKM insitutes who are seen in huge numbers. Parathas and a variety of juices are renowned. Great options among desserts are also available.
  • MPSTME has another canteen on the 8th floor of the building which serves more or less the same quality and quantity and hosts around 80 to 100 people at a time.

  • Due to the fact that NMIMS has been an integral part of the student like in Juhu for over 30 years, there are some great student associations with their own history and body of work. Each domain and function has a strong student body associated with it, that does some great work.

The Marketing Cell, Not Just Marketing is one of the Oldest clubs on campus. With expertise across marketing sub-domains like Disguised Research, Digital Marketing, Creative Promotion and Fieldwork NjM is the place to be for all things marketing. They also publish one of the most well known E-Magazines in B-School circles; Buzz.

The Alumni Relations cell at NMIMS is another well known commitee at NMIMS. The nature of their work is so important that it cannot be emphasized upon enough. From maintaining connections with corporates, to organizing Alumni meets in various cities, to organizing connect sessions where the students can interact with them, the Alumni Relations Committee does it all.
