  • The academic routine in MIT, Manipal is light and gives a lot of room for extra study time, extracurricular activities, pursuance of hobbies, taking up projects, club activities, and for life in general.
  • There are no more than 4.5 hours of theory classes per day(including a half hour break) and 3-hour labs according to schedule. So, there can be a maximum of 7 hours of academic learning in a day, depending on whether or not there is a lab on that day. The classroom learning is such that the teachers here mostly try to give you the information you need to either treat as sufficient or as a base for pursuing it further, for deeper learning. Studying a few books suggested per subject is the way through the assignments (surprise tests) and exams. Standard methods of teaching are the conventional blackboard and slide shows. Although the teachers always include simulations, videos and other tools to assist them. Sometimes, there are even some other experienced people who may be called in to share some points and pointers with the students. Student-teacher interaction is encouraged at all stages of learning and the Lecturers are pretty open and welcoming in general. The Continuous evaluation scheme involves assignment tests, where the questions usually demand an in-depth and clear understanding of the subjects; 2 sessional tests; and final end semester examination which accounts for 50% of the marks.
  • In the end, it's all percentile ranking. The experience here is quite liberating, with the very atmosphere that the beautiful scenery induces, the seclusion that only a university town can provide, the many fests that brings the college together and precipitates the students' skill development and gives great memories. This is a place where a person can really come into their own. A student has everything that is needed to grow into a multi-talented and successful person.

  • Classes run throughout the semester and holidays are given only as per national holidays. Classes begin around 8am and end at 5pm. Each semester we have 3 practical classes and each practical lab is around 3 hours . Our entire grading system is divided in to parts one is internals and other is externals. Internals- 50 & externals - 50. Internal is again divided in two parts one 20 - for internal surprise quizzes and 30 marks - sessionals ( 2 sessionals for 15 marks each) and lastly end semester for 50 marks. We have frequent quizzes and examinations which continuously evaluates us and help in our overall development and progress.  Our teachers are very helpful and we are taught by the best brains available . They are ready to help us not only in the class but e can even clear our doughts through social media also like whatsapp, fb etc. they are ready for any medium. We have college fests , the one being technical and other is cultural fest and also one of the well known fests of India i.e. REVELS. We get to interact with so many people and so many talented people. • Manipal Institute of Technology provides a vast variety of choices when it comes to choosing a career in different fields of Engineering. The courses offered by the Institute are exhaustive in the list and even include choices like Computer and Communication, Mechatronics, Print and Media Technology etc. All these courses are based on the latest syllabus followed all across India and they are also kept up to date by reviewing them from time to time. The teaching process followed is highly effective as all that is being taught is linked with practical examples so as to build the imagination of the students and to help them in learning things practically. The weekly labs also have experiments which run in conjunction with the things being taught in class and thus help students in practically understanding concepts.

  •  All the classrooms are fitted with projector screens and teachers use them efficiently to practically explain everything that is being taught in class using slides and videos. Teachers have a strong connection with students and welcome doubt clearing sessions from students anytime during the academic hours and not just in the classrooms, thus helping out the students in every way possible. Outside the academic hours also students can contact teachers on their phones and every teacher follows the tradition of giving out their phone numbers to the students in class in case any help is needed. The projects undertaken by students are highly supported and the teachers are ever-ready to guide them through any difficulties.

  •  The students are subjected to biweekly tests in individual subjects which form part of their final grades also. This helps them in keeping up to date with the concepts being taught each week. The college also conducts two sessionals of twenty marks each, which are conducted at the interval of one and a half to two months during the semester. The rest of the marks are for the final end semester exams which are conducted at the end of the semester and are the most important of all tests and exams. This all together forms the grade of the student.

  • In conclusion, I can say that Manipal Institute of Technology follows a sound method for making its students academically strong and the teachers and the faculty are also an icing on the cake.

  • One can find students from all part of the world out here. Icas provides an opportunity in which a student can study 2 years from here and 2 years from a foreign university thus providing international exposure.
  • We have student exchange programs with a number of foreign universities some of which are listed here. IAESTE also assists students to enroll in such programs based on academic performance and other co-curricular activities. These exchange programs enrich students knowledge of global best practices in education and other fields.
  • Saint-Etienne - Du-Rouvray, Esigelec, France
  • Hochschule Bremen- University of Applied Science-Germany
  • International Association for Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE)
  • Queensland University of Technology-Australia
  • Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany

  • Clubs like IAESTE have made foreign exposure possible. But only for 0.1% of the population. There is no specific approach made towards increasing international exposure, nor is any specific help provided.
  • There are no additional languages spoken in the campus or taught. The department of languages has been teaching foreign languages every year, but the success rate isn't that great. To be a part of the foreign exchange program, students join ICAS, it is not a part of MIT though. The average cost incurred is way higher than that of MIT.

  • One can find students from almost all parts of the world in Manipal University. So one can definitely call it international campus.
  • If you are opting for normal four year B Tech course, then there is no system of foreign exchange, however, other courses like ICAS have the system of 2 years of studies in India and then next 2 years in a foreign university, but it is way expensive.
  • However, in B Tech course, you can join AIESEC, become their member by paying around Rs 4000-5000. After the third year based on your academics performance and other co-curricular activities, you are shortlisted for interview and if selected you to have very high chances of getting a foreign internship fo a period of 2-6 months.
