  • College infrasturcture is one of the best with a very spacious and wonderful library, canteen, Multi Purpose Hall etc. Right now, renovation work is going on. There is free Wi-Fi facility as well.

  • Teach for India Fellowship
  • Gandhi Fellowship

Societies & Associations:

There are numerous clubs and societies varying from Mudra(the western dance society), Kahkasha(hindi street play) to Mercatus(the marketing club). All societies are relatively active and some of them do phenomenally well during inter-college tournaments. Montage, the annual cultural festival is apparently one of the most popular festivals in Delhi University and happens every year in the month of March. JMC has almost all sports teams and has the best all-girls football team, winning the vice-chancellors trophy almost every year.

College Infrastructure:

Amidst the embassies, the fact that JMC is located in the best part of New Delhi is incomprable. It is not "on campus" which has its own pros and cons. The building and infrastrucure which is under renovation is excellent. The college does not have hostel facilities but there are plenty of PGs and flats right across Satya Niketan which is a 5 minute walk from college.

Placements & Internships:

The placement cell is quite active but focuses more on students from commerce background excluding a large section pursuing humanities. Companies partner with the cell regularly and advertise by putting up posters on notice boards, which is a major source of information regarding internships. The alumni network is not all that active, however there have been various attemts to reconstruct it.

Fees and Scholarship:

As the University falls under the ambit of UGC, it is quite affordable. Despite this, we have facilities for aid and scholarship along with academic awards. Students can avail the same based on merit and financial status.

Academics & Faculty:

The Political Science curriculum is centralised in the University of Delhi and is also very theoretical. The syllabus is divided into 6 semesters over 3 years and each semester consists of 4-5 papers graded on the basis of end-term exams, internal tests and assignments. The faculty for Political Science at JMC is one of the oldest in the university and professors are punctual at taking lectures and tutorials every day. The college is strict about attendance although it is compensated for students participating in extra curricular activities. There are students from all walks of life with different interests and aspirations making it equally easy and difficult to fit in.

Fees and Scholarship:
  • Scholarships are provided. Nearly 300 students get scholarships every year. Plus getting loans from the state bank of India is also simple.
  • Fees is INR 2 lakhs per annum.
Academics & Faculty:
  • Daily class starts at 8 AM  and goes on till 4 PM  with a break of 5 minutes in between every hour and a lunch break of 1 hour.

Jesus and Mary College was the first college in Delhi University to start a Placement Cell in 1998. Starting with one company, today there are around 36 reputed companies which hold on-campus interviews for placements.

The Placement Cell is working constantly to provide a variety of opportunities to suit the different needs of  students. The Cell not only provides career opportunities to students but also brings to the students opportunities for internship, fellowship and campus ambassadorship.  It conducts talks and workshops to bridge the knowledge gap between students and companies.

The Cell is managed by students under the guidance of a competent faculty. The students working in the Cell are selected after around of assessment interviews. Currently 6 students both from 2nd and 3rd year are working with the Placement cell.

A number of well known domestic and multinational companies and NGOs visit campus each year for placements. They include:

  • Deloitte

  • Royal Bank of Scotland
  • Zomato
  • Teach for India Fellowship
  • Gandhi Fellowship
  • Evalueserve
  • Capital IQ
  • DHFL
  • KPMG
  • Ernst and Young

Hence, JMC is reputed to provide ralatively better placement opportunities to its students, with one of the strongest placement cells in Delhi Universities. But the percentage of students that gets placed would be less because mostly it is the Commerce background that companies look for and most of the students with a Humanities background end up finding jobs on their own.

Hasleen Kaur, Bollywood Actress, model and Miss India Earth 2011

Societies & Associations: One best thing about JMC is its number of societies. Apart from the compulsory socities like NSS , NCC, AICUF, WSDC , the college also has dance societies (mudra and nrityanjali), dramatics societies , photography society, art and architecture society , musical society to name a few.
Hostels & Food: College does not provide hostel facility but satyaniketan which is about 1 km from college is a hub of pgs. The canteen offers tasty meals and snacks at reasonable prices.
College Infrastructure: I would give an average rating for college in terms of infrastructure since the college is under construction. The college has a seperate building for library which is the hub of the bookworms. The multi purpose hall is one of the best auditoriums in DU. This is the same auditorium where Karan Johar and Kirron Kher judged participants for the reality show India's Got Talent in 2013.
Placements & Internships: JMC has an active placement cell which is linked with top organizations to provide job and internships to its students.
Fees and Scholarship: Talking about the fees, it comes to around Rs.10,000 anually which covers the university examination fees, tuition fee and for the other basic facilities. College also offers a large number of scholarship in academics, sports and other extra-curricular activities.
