ACADEMICS & FACULTY: The academic schedule of the institut is a bit flexible , as in ,it includes peaks and falls. At some points, it eases out a lot and then immediately follows series of quizzes and exams which puts on unnecessary load on  students. The normal class schedule for my department is pretty fair in a way it is never frustrating on any day.The relevance of the courses is high and the choice is done in a way that the courses are accurately distributed in each semester. I don’t consider myself suitable enough  to comment upon the teaching methodology of our professors , but could say the situation would get better and subjects would appear more interesting if each professor would exhibit their knowledge in a better way. Talking about the accessibility of the professors, some are very much involved in the department and college activities and reach out to  the students directly while some just stay constrained and don’t even think to interact outside the classrooms.

FEES AND SCHOLARSHIP:
  • Course Fees is around 90,000 per year. There are many scholarships available for students be it Merit-cum-Means Scholarship whose eligibility criteria is that your CGPA should be above 6 and your parent\'s annual income should be less than 5 lakhs. There is also Institute Merit Scholarship which is given to the toppers of the different department for that particular year.
  • Ona an average around 25% to 30% of students get the scholarship.
  • If however, the student is unable to get a scholarship you can easily get a loan from banks being selected in an IIT.

FEES AND SCHOLARSHIP: IIT-Guwahati’s course fee is Rs.1,20,000 per annum being in two halves, one for each semester. There are different academic scholarships available to students. The major academic scholarship for B.Tech students being IMS (Institut Merit Scholarship) ), which is given to Department Toppers &  MCM( Merit Cum Means), given to the students whose parents have lower incomes. Then we other fellowships for the research scholars and some of the scholarships are funded externally by any other institutions. On an average, around 10 students for IMS , 70 for MCM are provided with these scholarships every year with some around 30-40 phds granted with their scholarships. Ya, loans are definitely needed by the students in order to pay their fees and they avail for further loans on undergoing an academic activity like going for an academic internship abroad. The system of availing for loans  is simplified as the result of some of the banks having their offices in the campus itself like Canara, SBI, ICICI . So if any process is hindered by the bank, its very easily managed with the help of the college administration.

Computer centre is having abundant PCs having access to internet and also to thousands of online international journals, libraries having good books & all major national, international research journals. Hostels are simply superb, they have only single occupancy rooms, so ample amount of privacy & safety. Each room is having LAN connection, fan, Cot, reading table and a chair. Each hostel is provided with own play ground apart from common playgrounds. Class rooms are also good having all facilities, laboratories are equipped with all latest & essential equipments.
