Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College was established in 1963 by the Hindi Vidya Prachar Samiti. On the auspicious day of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, 15 August 1938 the people of Ghatkopar and the neighboring suburbs observed the birth of Hindi Vidya Prachar Samiti, a brainchild of visionary Late Shri Nandkishore Singh Jairamji. The objective of the Samiti was to provide the educational needs of the Hindi Speaking Community. The Samiti was started with a primary school and later expanded into a secondary school.

The school has placed itself among the leading secondary schools in Mumbai and the educational institutions that transmit instructions in Hindi in Mumbai. As a result, by establishing Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College the Samiti took advantage of providing higher education. In 1976, the Commerce faculty started both at the Junior as well as the Degree college level.

The college completely believes in empowering students by focussing on teaching and research. The perspective of the college is to develop and enhance teamwork and leadership qualities among the students. It provides additional services to serve the self and society. Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College Botany:

The dept was established in 1963. It was granted recognition for admitting M.Sc students by research and Ph.D. The dept has M.Phil program for four years. The research center of this dept is one of the first research centers of the college. The dept holds a second position all over Maharashtra.

Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College Biotechnology:

Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College Admission:

RJC has linguistic minority status. As per merit, 50% of the seats are reserved for the students who belong to the Hindi speaking community.

Students who passed the S.S.C. examination conducted by Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education, Pune are eligible for admission to the Junior College. Students passed the S.S.C. examination conducted by other boards should be in accordance with the eligibility criteria of the college.

Students who passed Higher Secondary examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board are eligible for admission in the college. Students who passed H.S. conducted by other boards should get admission in accordance with eligibility criteria.

Students should carry their original documents along with the photocopies. The students must have the provisional eligibility certificate, if not, the student will not be admitted. The admission is based on the provisional eligibility certificate. After being admitted, the students are required to submit their original documents that mark sheet, passing certificate, migration certificate, transfer certificate, etc.

Admission is also open for the backward classes. They are required to submit their caste certificate along with attested photocopies for validation at the time of admission.
