Pondicherry University Scholarship Details

Pondicherry University offers various scholarships to all full-time scholars admitted to the PhD of the university departments. These scholars are eligible for a monthly fellowship of Rs 8000 plus a stipend. In addition, all M.Sc Marine Biology and Disaster Management (Port Blair) students are eligible for a scholarship. Merit Scholarships

• The first three candidates with the highest percentage of marks in the PG. The admission entrance examination will be eligible for merit scholarships of Rs 2,000, Rs 1500, and Rs 1,000 each month for the first semester. Scholarships are awarded based on the results of the entrance examination.
• The merit scholarship will be provided to the first three candidates who received the highest marks in the previous semester for the following semesters at the same rate of Rs 2,000, Rs 1,500, and Rs 1,000 per semester (SGPA).

Merit-cum-means Scholarship

• A total of 20% of students in each PG degree programme are eligible for the scholarship. The Pondicherry University scholarship is based on students academic performance (SGPA) and their annual household income. The parents' annual income should not exceed Rs 2,50,000.
• The scholarship amount is Rs 750 per month. The scholarship for the first semester is based on the entrance exam results. In addition, candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for a scholarship: (i) Every month, at least 70% of the attendees should be present. (ii) Students must submit all papers for each semester on time. (iii) The Head of the Department in question certifies that criteria first and second are met.

N.B.H.M. Scholarship

• Scholarships are available from the National Board for Higher Mathematics in Mumbai (Department of Atomic Energy) for students who pass the NBHM exam.

Government of India SC/ST/OBC Scholarship

• Various state governments offer the government of India Scholarships to candidates from the SC, ST, and OBC communities.

Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship

• For minority scholars pursuing PhD programmes, the UGC offers the Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for SC/ ST & OBC scholars and the Maulana Azad National Fellowship for minority academics. Every year, the UGC announces the eligibility and other requirements for the fellowships.

Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child

• UGC provides Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child who pursue the PG program. 

PG Merit Scholarship for University Rank Holders

• The rank holders of Pondicherry University at the undergraduate level to pursue their master’s degree are eligible for the scholarship. 

Government of Puducherry Fellowship

• For students from the U.T. of Pondicherry participating in various programs at the university, the Government of Puducherry grants Merit and Merit-cum-means scholarships. In addition, the Government of Puducherry offers two Rs 3,000 per month fellowships to residents/natives of Pondicherry to two students admitted to the Department of Biotechnology's M.Sc. Biotechnology program.

Government of India- DBT Special Fund

• The Government of India provides fellowship Rs 5,000 per month to Twenty Three students admitted in the M.Sc Biotechnology program. 

Madanjeet Singh Group Scholarship

• Full scholarships are available for 8 students per year to pursue M.Tech (Green Energy Technology) and 16 students per year to pursue M.A (South Asian Studies) from SAARC member states, covering living expenses (Rs 10,000 per month), free campus hostel housing, and tuition fees.

GATE Scholarship

• UGC provides  Pondicherry University scholarships for the GATE qualified M.Tech students.
