National Post Graduate College was established in the year 1974 by Late Chandra Bhanu Gupta, the then Chief-minister of Uttar Pradesh. It is the only institute in the city which has College with Potential for Excellence(CPE) & Autonomous Status. The college received 'A' grade accreditation by National Assessment and Accreditation Council [NAAC] and Autonomous college with potential for excellence by UGC.

The institute is currently backed by the Motilal Memory Society. The institute offers both under-graduate and post-graduate courses. The courses offered are six programs under the scheme of two one-year programs under Community College and two degree and two post-graduate programs under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra. The institute also offers various certificate, diploma and degree programs in distant mode. 

The institute has a well-established infrastructure such as a computerized library, reading room, data analysis centre & well-equipped labs. The institute also has facilities for indoor and outdoor sports such as Chess, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Bad Minton, athletics and cricket.

• The institute is the only autonomous college of the University of Lucknow.
• The institute was the first to introduce the semester system at the UG level.
• It was the first institute to introduce three subjects in Arts faculty i.e. Anthropology, Geography, and Psychology.

National Post Graduate College Eligibility Criteria

NPGC offers multiple courses and specializations in various fields. Candidates with a minimum aggregate of 60% are eligible to apply. More details about the eligibility criteria for all the courses are mentioned below.

National Post Graduate College Admissions

• Admissions to undergraduate courses will be based on College Admission Test
• The merit list for M.Com, M.A./ M.Sc. will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in High School, Intermediate and Graduation.

• The hostels for girls have the capacity for 155 and the hostel for boys has the capacity for 100 boys.
