Akkamahadevi Women's University, formerly known as Karnataka State Women's University, was established in 2003 at Vijayapura (formerly Bijapur). It is the only Women's University in Karnataka to provide education to women exclusively. The university offers undergraduate, PG courses, PG diplomas, and certificate courses. It has been accredited 'B'grade by NAAC and four Stars in KSURF rankings. Apart from the regional centre at Sindhnoor, the university also has centres at Udutadi and Mandya.

Why Choose AWUV?

The Karnataka State Women's University is the only women's university in the state of Karnataka which is exclusively dedicated to women's education. The university has been accredited 'B' grade by NAAC. The university has four Stars in KSURF rankings. The official authority of the university, known as the College Development Council (CDC), functions as an intermediary between the UGC, the AICTE, the NCTE, the Higher Education Department and Karnataka State Higher Education Council and affiliated Colleges.

AWUV Admissions

Karnataka State Women's University admission is initiated through the official notification from the university. An online application on the official website is filled with relevant information. The Karnataka Examinations Authority conducts an entrance test called Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) for admission to the university. The eligibility criteria for some of the courses are mentioned below:

B.Ed Eligibility Criteria

• Students must pass from a UGC with a minimum of 50% in aggregate for the General and OBC category and 45% for the candidates belonging SC/ST category.

M.Ed Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates are required to pass a B.Ed degree from a recognized university. 
• 55% of marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination

MA Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates are required to qualify with a bachelor's degree with an optional English subject with 50% marks in aggregate.

MBA Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates are required to qualify with a bachelor's degree with 50% of marks in aggregate or equivalent obtained from this university or any recognized university.
• Seats are filled based on ranking in CET conducted by the KEA and CMAT.

MSc in Computer Science Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates are required to pass any of the following degree programmes from any recognized university with 50% of marks in aggregate (40% for SC/ ST/ Cat-I and 45% for OBC category candidates) 
• B.Sc with computer science/ information science/ information technology as one of the optional subjects. 
• B.Sc with physics/ electronics/ statistics/ instrumentation as optional subjects with one-year P. G. Diploma in computer science or computer applications. 
• B.Sc/ BCA
• B.I. Sc./ BIT 
• BE/ B.Tech (All branches) (7) B.Sc with mathematics

MCA Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates are required to pass in BCA/ Bachelor Degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent degree or Candidates are required to pass in B.Sc./ B.Com/ BA with mathematics at 10+2 level or graduation Level (with additional bridge courses as per the norms of the concerned university).
• Obtained at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying examination.

M.Phil/Ph.D Eligibility Criteria

The scheme, duration intake and eligibility for these courses are as per the UGC regulations entitled "UGC Minimum standards and procedure for the award of M.Phil and PhD degree.

Karnataka State Women's University facilities are well equipped with all the requirements for a better study environment for students. One of the highlighting features of this university is its well-housed and well-managed automated library with free of cost access to INTERNET/INFILIBNET, e-books, e-journals. AWUV Scholarships

The Karnataka State Women’s University provides financial assistance to its students to aid their education. The scholarships are provided to students coming from backward classes under which they are issued reimbursement based on their merit scores.
