The Karnatak University of Dharwad was established in the year 1949 and is one of the oldest Universities in the state of Karnataka. It became a Statutory University on 1st March 1950. The University provides courses in the fields of Science, Commerce, Humanities, and Education and has over 50 departments. The University has excellent infrastructural facilities and is furnished with a unique green library, co-operative store, and hostel facilities.

KUD Admission can be done online on the official website of the university and also can be done offline inside the campus in the admission department. KUD offers various courses under different disciplines, and fees differ from one course to another. 

Started in 1949 Karnatak University has expanded drastically from having a mere 34 affiliated colleges to more than 250 Affiliated colleges over a period of 60 years. As of 2019, there are 47 PG departments, 224 teachers, and 4500 students in which 47% are girls.

The University is an 'A' grade university that is accredited by NAAC. KUD is also part of the UGC-INFONET which helps to access more than 5000 electronic journals for research and advanced study. It was also awarded the coveted 'University of Potential for Excellence (UPE) by the University Grants Commission with the financial assistance of INR 50 crores for advanced study, research, and development purpose.

Karnatak University has a total of 888-acre campus where PG alone has 47 departments. University has a quite good campus with ample amenities to students and faculties. With a girl student population of 47%, KUD balances gender inequality. More highlights are mentioned below:

Karnatak University offers multiple courses under various disciplines, with the guidance of over 220 teachers for the PG course itself, the university helps to provide a congenial ambience for advanced learning and also to shape the carrier of the students. Karnatak University ensures the students to get placed in various companies. KUD encourages placement activities, they not only invite the organization to the campus but also by sending students to different places for an interview for the benefit of students. Karnatak University Eligibility Criteria:

KUD offers multiple courses and specialization where there are certain eligibility criteria to all the courses from the availability of seats to securing certain marks to proceed to the admissions. Candidates must secure 45% in their Higher Secondary Examination in order to apply at the University. SC/ST students must secure 40% in their Higher Secondary Examination in order to apply at the University. More details about the eligibility criteria are given below:

Karnatak University Admission:

KUD admissions can be done online on the official website of the university and also they pay offline inside the campus in the admission department. The students must download the Application Form and the bank challan from the website or by contacting and the administration office of the University. KUD Scholarship and fees concession will be given to needy students, i.e only for those who are eligible. The candidate must remit the prescribed fees through the branch of any nationalized bank to the University account. An entrance test is conducted for all Postgraduate courses. Admission is done on the basis of the merit, 50% of the aggregate marks obtained in the relevant subjects at qualifying degree examination (all three years), and 50% of Cutoff marks obtained in the Entrance Test. For Undergraduate courses, the students are chosen on the basis of merit. The University follows Reservation policy by the Government.

Karnatak University Hostel Details:

KUD spreads across 888 acres of land with beautiful gardens everywhere inside the campus. There are 3 hostels for girls, 3 hostels for boys and 1 hostel for working women and also one more hostel for Social Welfare department for boys. Hostels are filled with basic amenities and other facilities. More details about KUD hostels are mentioned below
