Indira Gandhi Medical College or Himachal Pradesh Medical College at Shimla [HPMC] took its inception in the year 1966.  IGMC Shimla holds an affiliation from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. It was from 1984 that the college was renamed Indira Gandhi Medical College and is now popularly known as IGMC. The institute offers many medicine-related courses, admission to the MBBS course is based on the NEET UG exam.
