One of the Oldest National Laboratories is the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research - Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) that is under CSIR. The institute (IICT) was established in the year 1944. It is a constituent laboratory for CSIR, New Delhi. The institute provides solution to the challenges that are faced by the entrepreneurs, industry and government departments through research. The contribution of the institute for chemistry research is internationally recognized. CSIR-IICT in its journey till date has made a mark as an innovative, dynamic & result oriented Research and Development (R&D) organization. For chemical and biotech industries it is a reliable destination in India. The existence of CSIR as an autonomous body came into effect in 1942 which was registered under the Societies Act. Earlier, the vision of IICT was redrawn with an aim to come up as an originative global R&D industry in chemical sciences and technology. And hence, 3 national centers called Semiochemicals, Lipid Research and Chemical Biology were established. IICT is now called as CSIR-IICT. The present focus of the institute is to develop a green process that is relevant to the industries. CSIT-IICT is currently celebrating its 7-decade service to the country.

The institute provides the latest infrastructure facilities to its students which includes three types of Spectrometers of different MHz and two types of Diffractometers. More information about the facilities is mentioned below.

• The institute has 3 Spectrometers of 700, 600 and 500 MHz which is at the Center Nuclear Magnetic Resonance & Structural Chemistry department.
• The institute also has 2 Diffractometers which are Single Crystal X-Ray Diffractometer and Powder X-Ray Diffractometer which are at the Center for X-Ray Crystallography department in the main building of the institute.
• The community center of IICT Hyderabad has function hall, indoor badminton court, table tennis, chess, carrom, etc.
