Haldia Institute of Technology is the first private and accredited academic institution catering to technical education in West Bengal. It is started in the year 1996 in the Haldia-industrial hub in eastern India. Hit college has become an icon of technical education in the part of the country. This college idea is not to give the students just an assembly line degree but to shaping the techniques of the young minds into giants in knowledge with upright character and sustained ethics and possessing a firm resolution to shape the future.

Hit college is also dedicated to the contribution of higher scientific research in technology as well as in applied science and social science. This college is the first self-financing and government-aided degree engineering institute with 3 U.G courses namely chemical engineering, computer science, and engineering and applied electronics and instrumentation engineering to impart quality engineering education to the students. This institute is producing a new type of workforce by conducting B.Tech courses in 12 engineering disciplines,5 M.Tech courses, and 2 P.G Programs.
