Guru Nanak Dev University was established at Amritsar on November 24, 1969, to mark the 500th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.Guru Nanak Dev University has risen to 16th rank in the top 50 universities of the country, as per recent survey conducted by 'India Today'.The University is successfully catering to twenty thousand students in various faculties at University Campuses and Constituent Colleges. Guru Nanak Dev University is the first University of the region which introduced on-line admissions to its courses, on-line counselling for State Level Admissions and Credit Based Evaluation System.

Eligibilty Criteria for Guru Nanak Dev University Centre for Distance Education:

• Bachelor of Arts(B.A)-Senior Secondary Certificate (12th Class) examination of the Punjab School Education Board or any other equivalent examination recognised by this university.
• Bachelor of Science ( B.Sc)- 12th class pass with atleast 40% marks in aggregate in the concerned science group or equivalent examination
• Master of Arts (M.A)-Bachelor’s Degree in any field with 50% marks in aggregate or 45% marks in the subject concerned or equivalent examination OR Master’s degree of this or another University in another subject or an another field.
• Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com)- 12th class pass with atleast 40% marks in aggregate or equivalent examination.
• Bachelor of Business Administration(B.B.A)- 12th class pass with atleast 40% marks in aggregate or equivalent examination.
• Master of Commerce (M.Com)- B.Com/ BBA/ B.CAM/ Bachelor of E-Commerce with 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent examination.
• Bachelor of Techonology(B.Tech)-Senior Secondary Examination (12th grade) with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as the subjects with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) in aggregate or any other equivalent examination recognized by GND University, Amritsar.

Admission Procedure for Guru Nanak Dev University Centre for Distance Education:

• Admission to the B.Tech courses at GNDU Campus shall be made on the basis of All India Rank of JEE(Main)
