ACADEMICS & FACULTY:

The official college timings are from 9 am to 4 p.m. We generally get around 8 hours free per week which are supposed to be used for CO curriculars, library and stuff like that. The quality of teachers is really good. The teachers are quite interactive, and none of them is actually a pure lecturer, as in they engage the students time to tine. I honestly love going to college. The campus is amazing. The teachers and the student culture is also very warm and nice. Though the work load gets a lot many a times but the overall experience is amazing!

CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS:

There are hundreds of Clubs and Societies in Christ University -no kidding. A few that I'm a part of are the English Dept Association, Blog Team, one of the tens of Theatre clubs. There are also specific organisations within the college engaged in different works- Centre for Social Action, Innovation Centre, Centre for Professional and Academic Support, and so on. There is absolutely no dearth of clubs and societies in my college. Every department has its own association. There is Darpan, InBloom and Blossoms which are primarily Cultural Fests and Management fests. In between, there are a number of celebration days like the Ethnic Day and stuff like that. Life in college in general is amazing. The students culture is really good. The work load gets a lot at times but then it keeps you busy. I, personally, love going to college. The teachers are warm. And the Main campus is specifically beautiful. A lot of spots to hang out at and lots of things to do.

CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS:

Ethnic Day is the best one for me in Christ, and we have many clubs and associations which help you grow in a better way.

The Student Welfare Office provides a platform for students to exhibit their skills and talents. It is a forum, where through the mode of cultural activities, like-minded people meet each other, exchange ideas and develop into better human beings. SWO conducts programs like DARPAN, BLOSSOMS, and INBLOOM to identify and nurture talents and provide a platform for members to develop leadership skills.

Darpan, which is normally held at the beginning of the academic year, help to identify fresh talent who represent Christ University in stage, literary, art and theatre events at various State, National and International competitions.

In-bloom, a national level inter-university cultural fest, and Blossoms, an inter-deanery cultural fest conducted in the even semester, provide students an opportunity to exhibit their skills and talents and help students to develop leadership and management skills.

The student welfare office is divided into 5 wings namely

 1)University Volunteer body

 2) University Cultural Team

 3) University Choir Team

 4) Natyarpana – University Dance Team

 5) University Quiz Association (CUQA)

Students interested in any of the above-mentioned activities can be a part of SWO. They are given training in various disciplines, to help them function effectively. The volunteers assist in organizing various events right from Inauguration to Graduation Day and form the “backbone” of the University. The cultural team, participates in numerous fests, bringing many laurels and are literally the “face” of the University. The University Dance team NATYARPANA and the University Choir team always bring life to programs in the University. Students talented in dance and music can be part of these two wings of the student welfare office. They are always present during inaugural and conclusion of University programs.

Christ University Quiz Association provides a platform for students interested in Quizzing. Here, students get together and organize quiz competitions to hone their quizzing skills.

Students who are part of the Volunteer body, Cultural team, 'Natyarpana' and Choir are eligible for undertaking a certificate course run by the Student Welfare Office

Muskan BSc Psychology (Honors), batch of 2020
10 Jul 2017 Rating :
ACADEMICS & FACULTY:

The daily routine can appear to be a little hectic in the beginning but slowly, one gets used to it. The classes go on from 8:30 to 3:30 (Monday to Friday) and 8:30 to 12:30 (Saturday). Lunch break is from 12:30 to 1:30. The University follows a very different examination pattern which I think, is unique and specific to this University only in India. There is 70-30 system where 70 marks are for the Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) taking place 3 times per semester. CIA 1 and CIA 3 are of 20 marks each and consist of individual and group assignments. CIA 2 is the Mid-semester Exam which is of 25 marks. 5 marks are awarded for good attendance. The End-semester Exam is only 30 marks of the total. Both the Mid-semester and the End-semester are of 50 marks (2 hours written exam) which are later reduced to 25 and 30 marks respectively. This allows the student to be less burdened on academics and participate in the co-curricular happening around in the college at almost all times of the year. This examination pattern mainly aims at the overall development of the students and not just the academic part of it. It is compulsory to maintain the minimum of 85% of attendance per semester, less than which one is not allowed to sit in the end-semester exam and has to repeat the semester. The faculty for each department is well-versed and thorough with their respective subjects and very easily and successfully deliver the content to the students. Different teaching methods are opted by them such as using the projector for presentations and videos, class discussions, class quiz etc. My overall experience so far has been very smooth. The dress code or strictness in terms of attendance might appear to be a little disturbing at the start but slowly one realizes, it is all for good. The fests, competitions, workshops, clubs and open electives apart from academics are all so involving and skill enhancing that one gets to learn a lot from them.

CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS:

There are Student Societies like Centre for Social Activities (CSA), Student Welfare Organisation (SWO) etc. working towards managing and regulating activities going around in the college. The CSA has a department which goes out to teach poor children for free. The main festivals and events in college include Darpan, Genesis, Aroha etc. Some of these involve all the three campuses whereas others are unique to this campus only. For sports, there is an annual sports meet which goes on for about a month. Life in college is very cool and easy-going. One gets to participate in so many events and activities that keeps one engaged all the time. Less burden of theoretical education adds to increased participation. The seniors and the staff are also very helpful and approachable and add to making lives easier.
