BR Ambedkar Bihar University Muzaffarpur was established in the year 1960. This institute was created out of the University of Patna and it was known as the University of Bihar until 1992. It has achieved the status of "State University"as well as this institute has 37 constituent colleges, 17 affiliated colleges, and 2 Business Management colleges. BR Ambedkar Bihar University also provides distance education and this institute is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities.
