Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology, [ACCET] was established by Dr.RM.Alagappa Chettiar in Karaikudi in the year 1952. The college initially started with three engineering course viz. Civil, Electrical and Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering. The college is permanently affiliated to Anna University.

The college was founded by Alagappa Chettiar Educational Trust with the aim of providing quality education in the backward area of Karaikudi. The institution was handed over to Govt. of Tamil Nadu in the year 1966 and is now one among the 6 government engineering colleges in the state. Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology Admissions takes place either by offline or online mode. The college infrastructure facilities include a vast campus of 218.55 acres, central library, administrative blocks, laboratories, R and D center, auditorium, medical facility, bank facility, post office and many more.

The college apart from academics also supports and encourages students in cultural, social, extracurricular activities. The ACCET has a dedicated placement cell for recruitment of students.

Alagappa Chettiar Government College of Engineering and Technology Infrastructure Facilities:

• The College has an auditorium with a seating capacity of about 600.
• College Library is housed with a total volume of 61580 books and there are 4 reading halls, 1 reference hall, 1 digital library, and 1 visual classroom. 
• Bank and ATM facility is available.
• The Department of Physical Education overs facilities for various sports & games, track and field events.
• The college provides a well-equipped laboratory facility for each department.
• Sports facilities available are Football ground, Cricket ground, Hockey ground, Badminton court, Table Tennis and many more.

Alagappa Chettiar Government College of Engineering and Technology Scholarships:

• The ACCET offers Scholarships for the eligible students in various categories provided by Tamil Nadu State Government.
• The scholarships are provided for students who belong to SC/ ST/ DNC/ MBC/ BC by the state government.
• CM Merit [Award] scholarships are provided for SC/ ST students based on their 10+2 marks.
• The SC/ ST Special Scholarships are provided for those who stay in the hostel with family income less than 2LPA.
• Minority Welfare Scholarships are provided for the minority students with family income less than or equal to 2 LPA.
• The Farmer's Scholarship and Labour's Welfare Scholarship are offered to the students by the state government.
• Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe [APST] student scholarship provided only for APST students. 
• The scholarships for merit students who have a family income less than 5 LPA is provided by Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship [CSSS]

ACCET Eligibility Criteria:

ACCET Admission:

• The candidates can apply for the ACCET admission process either by online or offline mode.
• For applying through Online Mode:
  • The candidates have to apply for application online on the official website of the college.
  • The application form has to be filled with all the personal and educational details.
  • The candidates have to read all the instructions carefully before filling the form. 
• For applying Through Offline Mode:
  • The candidates can receive the application form by visiting the designated center at Anna University 
  • The application form has to be filled with all the necessary details and required documents have to be attached along with the application form and should submit to Anna University.

ACCET Hostel Details:

• The Alagappa Chettiar Government College of Engineering and Technology Infrastructure Facilities include hostel, a well-built infrastructure with all the amenities for the students.
• Each hostel has a Deputy-Warden who is in charge of the hostel and discipline concerned.
• The hostel has two superintendents one is in charge of accounts and other is in charge of administration.
• The ACCET has six hostels for girls and six hostels for boys. It has an overall accommodation of 1621 students.
