Nilratan Sircar Medical College & Hospital is a premier medical teaching institution and public hospital, located in Kolkata. Since it was opened in 1864, it has been known by several names. First, it was a Pauper’s Clinic and then it became Sealdah Municipal Hospital. In 1884, it was renamed after the Governor-General- Campbell Medical School. In 1950, it was renamed Nilratan Sircar Medical College.

Nilratan Sircar Medical College offers the MBBS degree as well as Bachelor’s degrees in Nursing and Post Basic Nursing. All the undergraduate degrees at Nilratan Sircar Medical College have a duration of 4 ½ years. They are also mandated to complete one year of rotational internship. 15% of the MBBS seats are filled up from All India Quota and 85% are from State Quota.

The applicant must be of 17 years of age at the time of admission or before the end of the calendar year. In order to apply for the MBBS degree, the candidate must have studied in the science stream for their 12th standard examination, with the compulsory subjects being Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English. Admission is granted based on the NEET examination for MBBS.

Nilratan Sircar Medical College offers courses as a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and a Master of Surgery (MS), as well as a Masters in Science (M.Sc) in Nursing. The duration of the MD and MS courses are 3 years, while the M.Sc. degree has a duration of 2 years. 50% of PG seats are filled up from All India Quota and 50% from State Quota.

In order to apply for the postgraduate degrees available at Nilratan Sircar Medical College, the candidates must have finished their MBBS degree. In addition to this, they must have completed their compulsory 1-year rotational internship and must have gained good merit in NEET-PG.

Nilratan Sircar Medical College offers specialties as both DM and M.Ch. The various courses at the super speciality level such as Cardiology, Neurosurgery, etc, take 3 years to complete. 50% of SS seats are filled up from All India Quota and 50% from State Quota.

In order to apply for the DM and M.Ch superspeciality courses, the candidate must have completed their MD and MS, respectively. Admission is granted on the basis of NEET-SS.

Admissions to the Nilratan Sircar Medical College are done through NEET for UG, PG, and SS. The admission fee is based on the NSMC fee structure. 

• Make the fee payment in the designated bank account through Net Banking/ Mobile Banking/ NEFT/ RTGS/ DEBIT CARD and take a print out of the transaction acknowledgment.
• Fill up the admission form online and take a print out of the same before submission.
• Get all the documents required and the print outs of filled up admission form and bank transaction document ready, before scanning. Candidate must sign on the bonds, admission form, handwritten declaration, and bank transaction acknowledgment documents before scanning.
• Scan all the required documents as a single pdf file and rename the file by the first name of the candidate. The file size should be 1MB or less. 
• Once all the documents are scanned as a single pdf file, send a confirmatory mail addressed to the principal.
